If so, then why not do something about it now? They are in power, and it doesn't look like they will be for long. If they want to do something about it, right now is their best chance.. So what are they waiting for??

From what I understand, Republicans are for enforcement before the Democrats when it comes to the illegal immigration problem.

Again another example of Liberals wanting the Republicans to fix everything. This problem did not start 6 years ago. They've been coming over for years. If we fix everything, what will we work on the next 8 years. We do know that if a Democrat gets in, there won't be a thing fixed, just like the clinton administration. They didn't do a damn thing.

They care about their pocket books. I will be publishing prior to the election a list of the scoundrels in the congress that provide any quarter for illegal immigration. They thought they were going to dodge the bullet by not taking any action until after the election but they are wrong.

President Bush is a lame duck president since he cant serve another term. Most Americans are fed up with the war, high gas prices and so much more. The republicans that will try to be re elected at mid tern elections need a boost in their bids for office so as not to loose control of the congress etc,so its very "hot' right now to support the illegal immigrant issue as they are courting the Mexican American vote. do I think they care about Mexican people ? NO I don't its simply a ploy to get votes in a year that people are fed up with most of the things that G.W B has done. Be careful who you vote for my Mexican friends they reach out to you in time of need but your sons and daughters are dying in the wars just like all the others .And as soon as you vote for them they forget you .

Of course they do not care. The only thing they care about is getting more money for their re-election campaigns and that money comes from businesses that hire illegals and want them here. We need to vote out all incumbents from office regardless of party affiliation. Congress has showed that they no longer represent the PEOPLE.

they've kind of blown their chance to really do something about the problem, but the vote's not til november...hope springs eternal...at least there's some deportations going on, but that's a band-aid, long-term policy's going to have to go down in writing and make it a really stony ***** to get a job/place 2 stay etc to really be effective...and then there's the issue if the liberal dems would toe any such line on it, since they're mainly in the biz of giving 1/2 your taxes to 3rd world countries etc...

They care, but disagree amongst themselves what the best solution would be.

No bill at all is a lot better than the Senate Bill, which would ruin our schools and drain our services.

Thank God for the House.

Republicans.

Sure they do. Immigrants make our economy stronger, and let's the middle class get richer. That's what it's all about.
