Every argument that they have made has been purely illogical and uses no reason at all. In fact, they have made up outright lies and said ANYTHING to justify their being here illegally. The worst thing that I have heard them say is when they compare their criminal invasion to the holocaust where millions of Jews were exterminated. That was disgusting.

The only LEGITIMATE argument for throwing them out is that they have broken the law to get here. Several good arguments exist for dealing with the problem some other way, however, and these include:

-We can't really afford to throw them out. It would not only cost a fortune logistically, but they are an integral part of the infrastructure now! In spite of the oft-repeated "that Mexican took my job" mantra, the truth is that most immigrants are not doing jobs Americans would do for the same low wages. So having them here actually contributes to controlling inflation.

-We don't have anyone else to do the jobs they are doing! Actual unemployment rates are about as low as a stable economy can bear. If we throw them out, the work they are doing will not get done!

-Immigrants (even illegal ones) actually pay more into the system than they take out. So if they all vanished into thin air tomorrow, the economy would be worse, not better. There are two or three areas where immigrants are a net cost, and those are the only ones you typically here quoted. Overall, immigrants make a profit for our economy.

-Many, many illegal immigrants have had children here. Those children are, by definition, legal American citizens. If you deport their parents, they will go through the usual channels to have their folks readmitted under the pertinent laws, and will then probably sue to recover the cost of doing so. And guess who will pay the costs when they win? You and me.

There are many more arguments on both sides, it's a complex issue, but the truth is no-one comes here from anywhere to sponge off the State. America truly sucks as any kind of free-lunch provider. Free-loaders would pass right on by and go to Canada or Europe or the former Soviet states.

Those who come here legally and illegally do so to work hard and to try and get rich.

Well, difficult but i guess you can always say that those who are here to work won't harm the nation, if they want to work, pay taxes and contribute to the health of the society. Then you can say that every US citizen is a former immigrant (except native Indians) and that you can't refuse something that was allowed to your ancestors. If you really look for arguments you can think that you haven't choose where you were born, and you were very lucky to be born in the US when others were born in Africa. How fair is destiny when you think that you are already rich or poor before being alive?
Anyway, the best argument i guess will be to say that illegal immigrants that are willing to work and be honest and good taxpayers are better than US citizens that sell drugs and kill people, aren't they?

All arguments they have made, have been proven false either by their example or pure logic and reason.

The argument that " they will do the jobs we are not willing to do." is a big farse ... it can be easily resovled, either by raising wages, suspending wel-fare, promoting work-fare, ect .. We have the people, the only thing weknow for sure is they will demand a living wage to do the work . The producers can pay the extra money, and if itdoes increse the price of product it will be so small of a price we will probally not even notice it .

If they'll let my English girlfriend stay here then I don't have a problem with it....the thing is though, we need nurses and she is a nurse/practitioner and a damn good one which we really have a demand for here in the states but she has to wait like 18 months before she can even come here on a work visa...and Mexicans stay here with no more skills than being able to mow a goddamn lawn! It really ticks me off and winds me up! I don't see any reason to let the bastards stay here any longer than it takes for their passports to expire for the period of a visit from anyone else!

Well.. Not that I am a Bush fan. But he did at least say one intelligent thing.

Migrant workers are willing to do Jobs that we Americans are not.

That says a hell of a lot about how lazy we have all gotten over the years.

I personally have no problems with migrant workers. Let them do what I am not willing to do. We need them.

immigrants provide cheaper labor which lowers the cost to make and sell american goods and services. this slows inflation and in the long run allows you to enjoy a higher standard of living. our country has gone through waves of immigrants for centuries. the biggest gains came when imigrants came from ireland and eastern europe just prior to the industrial revolution. those same imigrants went on to form labor unions and raised their standards of living over the course of just a few generations.

I don't agree with the argument but Congress wants them here because the businesses that hire them contribute to their campaigns. These same businesses argue that they're better for the economy, although I don't agree with that either because although we may be able to buy a piece of fruit for less our local taxes and health care costs are sky rocketing.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free."
Statue of Liberty

ps. All the people bitching about migrant workers will be the same people bitching about the high price of fruit and vegetables if the seasonal pickers are not allowed to work here.
