The package insert says you can re-apply the Advantage as soon as 2 weeks from the last application, and you may need to with heavy infestations!!!! Advantage lasts UP TO 4 weeks. That means you may not get the whole 4 weeks out of it.
I start putting it on my dogs in May, and apply it every 6 weeks. If started early enough, you can extend the time between applications.
And Advantage kills the fleas that bite the dog, so if you keep Advantage on all pets in the house, you do not need to bomb, because all the new hatchlings will need to find a pet to feed on. So if all pets are treated, the life cycle of the flea is broken.
Advantage is NOT a birth control for fleas. That was Program.

I'm having a similar problem with Frontline. My 2 Labs still have fleas after 3 weeks. My vet said after 3 weeks I should try Advantage instead of waiting the full 30 days, so tomorrow I'm trying Advantage. So the answer to your question is yes, you can give him Advantage before August 20th...)(

No.You really shouldn't retreat your dog.If your dog is an inside dog you need to make sure you don't have fleas inside on carpet couch bedding etc because it is hard for the dog to get rid of the fleas if they are inside. An easy way to check if you have fleas inside is set a shallow pan of water on a white cloth under a lamp on the floor alnight in the morn if their are fleas inside the pan then you have fleas inside and will need to "bomb" use carpet sprinkle for fleas or sprays. You would have to treat all areas of the house and repeat in a few weeks.Flea collars and baths can be done with the advantage. We find that helpful for our pets. Also it may be a good idea to spray the lawn for fleas.Hope this helps.

Advantage is birth control for fleas. It prevents new fleas, but you gotta kill the ones in the environment. You need to treat your house, either get flea bombs or vacuum alot. Wash the dogs bedding and treat the yard too. There are products at pet and hardware stores. You have to repeat the treatments too. Read the directions on the package and pay close attention to the "re-treat" section.
Good Luck

Did you give the proper dose for the size of your dog? Sounds like you did not. Advantage kills fleas with 24 hours as advertised. I tested it.
