I don't believe in god(s) because there are no gods to believe in.
I have never been offered evidence to the existence of any god(s).
Other peoples beliefs and books written by believers do not count as evidence.
I also know, because I live it, that believing in things that there is no evidence of, is completely unnecessary for living.
How did we get here? What is our purpose?
What's the meaning of it all?
We don't know, and that's O.K. After all, the human race has gotten this far without knowing.
Creationists, intelligent design, and yes, even evolutionists do not know the origin of life(universe)
Scientist study and research.
Believers have faith.
...but nobody has evidence beyond a reasonable doubt.

I did when I was younger, and then it just faded over time. Kind of like, and I don't say this to be nasty, my belief in Santa Claus.
I try from time to time. I pray, I read the texts, I go to temple, but nothing happens. Sometimes I read something I like, sometimes I think of something while I'm praying, I often enjoy the community of others, and I think, I hope - here's a spark of divinity?, but honestly, most mornings I wake up and God is just Santa Claus for grownups, and I have no faith, no belief. But that's just me.
As far as explaining life, I'm kind of OK with not a lot of explanations. I can't say that I actually have that good a grasp on how the toaster works, or the refrigerator, but I don't resort to supernatural explanations for them - I just don't know. Maybe there's hamsters running around the back of the fridge, their cheeks packed with icecubes. The fact that human knowledge is limited doesn't necessitate the existence of a God.
Also, the problem of evil is a showstopper for me. There's evil and injustice in the world. I saw pictures the other day of rescue workers taking a 1-year old's body out of a building in Qana, Lebanon, where he and his family were taking shelter from an Israeli bombardment. What was his sin, exactly? Because if God is all-powerful and all-knowing, he let that happen, he lets there be all this pain and suffering in the world. And it isn't just, and it isn't right. So either God is a sadist, or he isn't all-powerul and all-knowing, and then he isn't God. I won't worship, won't pray to a sadistic God, and who needs a non-omnipotent God? Can't get past that, I'm sorry if that upsets you.

i don't because the bible is full of contradictions and hypocrisy. what about all the other accounts of creation besides the bible? are they not valid just because you don't believe in those?
is there not a single absolute truth? the fact that there are many supports the conclusion that none are correct, just beliefs.
Evolution is the only possible explanation for life, excpet that life was planted here. I will never, ever be able to believe or defend that something just waived a hand and on a whim, or losing a bet with all the other gods, created you and i.
the fact that there are so many religions with very different versions of god, shows me even more that god is a human abstraction that, i guess, comforts people. that is fine, more power to you, but not for me.

Good question. I believe in God and the Bible, because almost all of the prophecies spoken in the scriptures have come true. The ones that have not come true are about to happen soon. I also have experienced my own miracles after trusting in the Lord. I look around the see the Hand of God everywhere on the earth. I know that Jesus walked on the earth...that is easy to believe because historians wrote about Him. We also have the Gospels and Letter from the Apostles. They are the men who walked with Jesus in person. Paul the Apostle was the biggest Christian hater at that time, and he sure changed his tune, after seeing and hearing Jesus. Paul was a real person. So was Peter, John and the rest of the gang. I also know what Jesus has done for my life. I feel the power the Spirit of the Lord gives me....and the peace in my heart. I have not a doubt that God is real and His Son died for us. Jesus is God in skin. smile

Why I DON'T believe in god...well I'm gay --I find it very difficult to worship a deity that considers me an abomination...I was educated with a university degree in biology and now believe that evolution is real...and that the reasons for the universe and my life may well be(and are) beyond my comprehension....and that said..I can't believe in god if the meaning of life is well beyond my level of intelligence...the best that I can do is to take an educated guess...and my educated guess doesn't rely on a fictional account of the creation of the universe or on a god that would create a world with such hatred, greed, violence,war....I can go on with this list for a long time..but you get the picture.
Having said all of the above' though, I want to thank you for asking a good question on a volatile subject and being polite and sane about it.

You believe in God because you were raised to believe in God. I don't believe there is an invisible being somewhere in space with super omnipotent powers. The bible is just a book..like the Quaran. You believe in God..what about Mars,Thor,Buddha,Zues or any of the other Gods that were worshipped by various cultures? Are you going to tell me that you are right and all those other people are wrong? That's a little bit arrogant if you ask me.
They discovered some writings that said that Jesus was not betrayed by Judas..hmmm..beginning to sound just like a piece of fiction isn't it? Is the whole christian world gonna demand a re-write of the Bible now? What other falsehoods and inaccuracies are in there?

1. I believe in the possiblity of a God
2. I am not sure we understand God enough to build a religion on it
3. You shouldn't 'argue' with your friends about God. You should 'inform' and let them use the Free Will He gave them. It's up to God to change their hearts, not you.
4. I accept that it is the only 'logical explination' you have. it isn't for me, and I hope you can accept that as well.
5. I also notice the question and the answers to all be Christian..... coming from a family of many faiths, I have made my belief of God a little more broad than one book or faith. I would recommend the reading of literature from other faiths (include Shinto, it's beautiful)........ it can help strengthen your own resolve and help to understand the many faces that He wears.

I don't believe in any gods because there isn't enough evidence. The default position is non-belief in a god and no one has been successful in proving to me that a god exists. I believe in the theory of evolution and the big bang theory, and even if these theories were found to be false I still would not believe in a god. Just because a person doesn't have an answer to a question doesn't mean that "God did it." To me, the idea of a god is equal to the idea that there are leprechauns or fairies. It's not that I believe that they do not exist, I just don't believe that they do exist (there is a difference). I lack belief in a god until it's existence can be proved accurate.

I believe because:
I believe that I can feel his presence in us and around us in the world. I see God in things that can't be described fully like beauty or love.
I believe that God made the world nice and ordered, hence the reason we can use science to understand the world.
I believe that the speed of light being so fundamentally important in science and that God created light first in Genesis cannot be a coincidence.
I believe that something had to cause this universe to come into existence.
The only argument that I can except for there not being a God is that there is no evidence for another plane of being i.e. heaven. That is what the existentialists would say. I would respond that there is no evidence for there not being another plane of existence.
I believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit!!!!!

Hello !
That is a great question. Here is a calm answer for you.
Well I believe that all religions have a purpose just like science and philosophy and other subjects that explain life. We are all people and I thing that there is some kind of force or energy but do not go further than this. People fight too much about all of this. This indicates to me that they are spiritually lost. Not hating and allowing others to have their private beliefs is to repect another's mind and soul. Otherwise there is fear. Fear is waht makes everyone fight. I bid you peace.
Best Wishes,
