i put one in an 89 super coupe and it was one hell of a good idea. that was back in 99 and since then i have used them in all of my cars to date( 5 cars) i absolutley love them and i will never use anything else. some of these guys are right. don't over oil them and DO NOT dry them any way except just air drying. no heat or anything it will cause the cotton to clump. i always tend to remove the air silencer on my cars when i install the k&n and i get a real good throaty sound out of the intake upon acceleration and if you like that sorta thing you will love it. and for the one guy who said paper filters protect better is wrong. a properly maintained k&n will last literally forever

You will notice the difference when the Mass Air Flow sensor and the Intake Air Temperature sensor goes bad from oil contamination repeatedly. At over 300 bucks a pop, you will notice it very much. When the bearings seize in the engine from dirt contamination, you will then notice that the K&N should never have been installed in the first place. The only way to allow more air into the engine is bigger openings. I.E.=an air filter that does not block all the dirt. Hold the K&N up to the light and see how much light you can see through it. Then do the same with a paper filter, you will see what I mean. If you see light through it, the dirt is smaller than that. The paper filter will provide much more protection for your engine.

I have used the K-N filters for some years now. Slight increase in performance to a "car nut" and expect about 1 MPG gain. Don't clean it too often. Seems to work fine if you clean it every 15K miles.

Yes you will notice a slight differece. It will give you 8 to 14
more horsepower. Just don't use to much oil on it though.
On certain vehicles the oil contaminates the mass airflow sensor,
and then you have a check engine light and drivability problems.

The biggest difference that I've seen was in the sound of the engine when accelerating and the reduction in miles per gallon. The horse power gain was not that noticeable.

I had one in my Focus for a while. I could not tell any difference, and decided to replace it with a paper filter for more engine protection.

k&n filters are supposed to keep more dirt out of your engine...why are these people saying paper keeps more out?? and the only way it's going to ruin your mass airflow sensor is if you absolutely load the thing w/ oil...i've had mine forever and i always run my car hard. it's never had a problem and the MA-FS is right next to the filter...so i wouldn't worry about it. should keep more dirt out of the engine and offer better performance.

The average person does not notice the small horse power gain but it saves money by being washable
