What you mean then is the only valid argument regardless of any moral relevancy is those that hold the same worldview as you? Well what a wonderful world that would be.
If you are going to debate something that has moral underpinnings to it then you have to lay down the basis for making any judgements at all. If you say some things are wrong and others are not then from whence cometh your standard to make such judgements? You have nothing to stand on. I agree with you about the racial issue...mixed marriages are not neccessarily wrong and there is no place in the bible that says it is, However if you are going to maintain that the Word of God cannot be used as the standard for right and wrong then there cannot be a right and wrong. By whose standard then will you say one thing is correct while the other is not? Doesn't it become an arbitrary thing? What is right for me is right for me and what is right to you is right to you? If there is no pattern for common decent behavior then it all becomes just differences without merit.
If I can say I want what you have you must give it to me because who says its wrong for me to take what I want. Its the right thing to do for me. It does not matter that it displeases you because it is not a matter of right and wrong, its only a matter of whose will will prevail. You wanting to keep what you say is yours is irrelevant because the only reason it is yours is because I have not taken it yet. We only differ in our perspectives we both want something that we both cannot have. Possession is the law isn't it? I mean who is to judge between us? There can be no basis for virtue or value according to your perfect world of freedom turned license can there? You can decide for yourself what you deem is moral and decent behavior but without an agreement to what will be the standard for moral and decent actions we really have no grounds for complaint against those who would do us harm.
I do not think that the standard for decency in society would be that far from civilty by using biblical sources.
I grant you some people have learned to use their "religion" to make outragious claims but that does not render it wrong by default anymore than having no standard makes your decision and judgements correct.
If you were walking home late at night and took a shortcut through an alley and suddenly around the corner in front of you came four really rough looking characters and you had no chance of escape, would it make a difference to you that these were four friends on the way home from a bible study? Eh?

Not to be a jerk, but it's true, you brought God into the arguement this time. I do agree with you that Using Christ's name does not solve or answer everything. Some points need to be talked through. But from my stand point (and how I talk about certain things) is I try to understand what people think and what I have gathered from past expiriences, then I will bring God into the debate, only if it is appropriate. I am a Christian and I gain a lot of my wisdom from Him. That is unfortunately where certain people differ. But I absolutely refuse to impose my beliefs on anyone. If you don't want to hear it, then I won't force it onto you.

Because those of our who know that God really is there, and have taken the time to listen when he says "here i am, everything in the bible is true. Jesus exist" must make that the center of everything we believe. It would be like trying to discuss the life on earth without mentioning other humans beings - because they person you are talking to doesn't believe they exist. You couldn't do it. It was impossible. And it is just as impossbile for a Christian to discuss life, the universe, morality, philosophy, science, business, marriage, family relations, or anything without bringing God into it. He is the center of it all.
If you would like ot hear him say "here i am, everything in the bible is true. Jesus exist" all you have to do it ask. He still answers knee-mail today.

Truth is available and there is no excuse for not knowing about the Creatour.
Who are without excuse? Let Scripture answer: “What can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. Ever since the creation of the world his invisible [essence], namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.” (Rom. 1:19, 20, RS)
Wether you believe in a Creatour or not, Obedience to a high authourity like God is important to how we view life. Therefore, God’s Word comes first, and in order to find happiness in it, a man has to keep feeding on Jehovah’s Word. That feeding cannot be temporarily set aside with the excuse that we have some urgent matter to care for and later we will get back to our studies. Jesus emphatically said: “Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah’s mouth.”—Matt. 4:4.

We are like ants in the presence of God! Gay is not a correct word to use for people who like their own nature, there is a reason why man and woman are different in their sexual parts and functions! Think about it, there are MORAL laws to deal with here or else all hell would break loose. Remember at the beginning of our history races of their own kind lived on their own place, it was after crossing oceans and lands that humans mixed, is all right by me, we are all Gods children, but we are also free to choose our own way. You are not an atheist, if you ever find yourself in a dangerous situation your first thought would be to God or Angels for help. That you question God is part of your divinity.Blessings.

"god" as quoted in organised religions has for over 2000 years has been distorted into many thing by men& women alike to adjust THERE social controll. GOD didnt say no to homosexuals or mixed race people it was man. because men&men can't reproduce and there controlled poulation will die out and they wouldnt have anything to controll. If you look into history all people have needed to have a belife in the "devine creator" as it has a socially organizing effect on the population. all populations have a belife which are remarkably similar to much so to be a coincidence.True belife is our free will which is a truly unique quolity of human mamels. and as in other answers you have had the scientist view on the big bang has to be started by somthing, every reaction needs a catalist things dont just explode into mass. there is in my oppinion to much emphasis on do this don't do that in mainstreem religion. i know life dosen't just end when the body shell dies but transends our comprehension of life and returns to an incomprehensable energy that is described as heaven even the worst of people will attain this transition if they are able to comprehend there mistakes and learn from them those that cant may be reincarnated to relearn those lessons

As you can see by the response of "Jimmy Pete", those who spout religious quotations are never at a loss for cliches. Words are their crutches.
And those who feel they must bring God into every argument...are those who don't have the strength to stand on their own.

Damn straight. Because some people are taught that to the extent that that is their only case against it. They have no reason to be against gays besides somebody told them God doesn't like it. It's just the people who have a very closed one track mind.
