I have had for almost 20 years a Sulfur Crested Cockatoo. He is sweet and loving but as with most parrotts he is a child that requires a lot of attention or he gets really loud and squawky. Unfortunantly he is left alone more than he wants to be and more than I want but such is life.....He also has to be sprayed or misted daily or they tend to leave a white dust down over everything. But we love him and he is a sweet pet. I have also had a Scarlet Maccaw which was hand tamed, that was stolen from me about 20 years ago. I also have had a few yellow head amazons and a red headed amazon. I even had a Tucan for a very short time because they don't fly or walk, they hop! Like up 5 feet and then down and would scare me !!! Yellows tend to be the best talkers . The theory holds true that if a bird talks a lot they tend to be unfriendly and if they are sweet and cuddly they don't talk much.

I have a Nanday Conure and a cross bred Fisher/Black masked Lovebird.
Yeah I would definitely say either a Conure or Lovebird. Sun Conures are lovely birds. If you want a smaller bird lovebirds are really colorful too and have alot of personality.
Sun Conures are actually very expensive. Nanday conures are a bit cheaper. And Lovebirds are really cheap compared to Conures. If you have the money I'd say a Sun Conure is your best choice.
Good luck choosing!!
