There's no time limit. It depends on how you feel about that person. You could have known a person for 10 years and not really KNOW them. You could have met a person a month ago and feel you've known them all your life. It only depends on how you feel and what you're comfortable with.

A one night stand could end up being your partner in life and a a year of dating could leave you unfulfilled and back at square one.

Do what you feel.

You can't base the reason to give it up on a preset # of dates you accomplish w/ someone. You need to listen to you heart & mind & make sure that this person is someone you could deal with after it's gone to that level. I say that because sex can bring many things into the picture: pregnancy, emotions, embarrassment , STDs, etc..

Some people think a screw is a screw... hell, i've had a couple myself, but nowadays there's so many cons vs pros to sex that it's to the point where more factors are needed help you make your decision.

I do not go on the number of dates but definitely not the first date.
Personally, if him and I are graduating from dating to relationship (he introduces me as his girlfriend), if I know he is interested in spending time with me for me and not just for the hope of sex and most importantly, if him and I have talked about sex, birth control and what would happen if I got pregnant.

The question isn't 'after how many dates', you have to have a loving, honest, trustworthy connection with that person [and dont forget commitment] before you consider having sex.

How many dates do you need to have before the wedding? Why not just be decent.

When you feel comfortable enough with the person that you could talk about what if's
1) What if I got pregnant
2) What if you gave me an STD
3) What if I want to use a condom and he doesn't

etc...
