First cold water. Run lots of it on the burn. If possible, put his hand in a bowl of ice water.

Then apple cider vinegar, if you have it, or white vinegar if you don't. Even cold prepared mustard will help (because of the vinegar in it.)

DO NOT put anything oily or greasy on a new burn because it holds in the heat.

If you have access to it, pure essential lavender oil help prevent infection and blistering. Use it straight, without dilution. A light, gauze dressing may be helpful, especially if the burn will be subjected to dirt and germs.

If the burn is not too severe, aloe vera gel is most helpful. If the skin is already blistering or broken, you need to see a doctor right away.

I only ever use 100% pure coconut oil, yes I know what you are saying but contrary to general belief coconut oil takes the heat out of any burn and did you know that coconut oil is an antibiotic? Use it sparingly, you do not want to slick it on, it is expensive and can be found at your local health store. All the best.

Jeez!
Whatever you do...DO NOT put butter, margarine or any type of oil on it- it will just infect the wound! (This will also hold in heat)
The first thing to do with a burn is to run cold water over it to stop the burning process.
The second thing to do is to seek medical attention, IN PERSON, not via the internet!
