Of course I agree. UK is dealing with the same problems on a smaller scale, and with the same attempt to characterize the debate as 'racist'.

Is the amusement at use of the race card in this debate a sign that it's utility is over?

Phoenix - oh, I agree that racists are racist. However, I'm called racist regularly just because I don't agree with someone. I don't think the legitimate part of this issue is about race.

Britain has a huge problem with both legal (EU) and illegal immigration .. the country is overpopulated as it is ... it has become a real hot potato there, but unlike here, at least they're trying to do something about it ....

And of course that old race card claptrap never registered with me ... it has been used and over used, and was never a valid argument in the first place ... but then again, if you don't have any other arguments to put forward, you can always appeal to the political correctness some people feel they have to embrace ... I say poppycock! The race card is way overplayed .... nobody in their right mind listens to that kind of nonsense ....

Dar, speaking out in favor of limits on illegal immigration is and should not be a 'racist.' In my view, I think people are called racist, like in this forum, when the questions lack any semblance of respect. We are then viewed as condescending, rude and insulting. Works every time.
