We have an all volunteer army. They fight because they want to. Puerto Rico occasionally takes votes on weather or not to become a state (which would give them the right to vote for President and give them representation in Congress), but THEY elect to remain a US territory. If THEY voted to become a state, they would be welcomed.

[edit]
By the way, as a U.S. territory, they have the protection of the US and most of our individual rights, but they don't have to pay federal income taxes. I imagine that's the reason they always vote statehood down.

I guess if Puerto Ricans feel comfortable accepting medicaid and food-stamps, they ought to feel obliged to send a few of there own to the US military. If Puerto Ricans had accepted Statehood, they'd be voting. Puerto Ricans want to enjoy the benefits of our US government but don't want to pay taxes. So don't cry about not voting till you pay up.

They love this country, they are showing it. When and IF Puerto Rico decides to become a state, they will also have the right to vote.

Military is a voluntary thing. No Puerto Rican is in the military because of conscription. They joined because they liked it. Quit your belly aching.

If they want to vote for president then they should support the political party that wants to become a state.

Often this is one of steps to become citizens. I served with many Filipinos while in the Navy.
