I know, I put it in a small sauce pan... but do I heat it on low heat? High? Boil it? Don't boil it? Cover it? Don't cover it? What's the best way to do it?

Here's how I do it (spaghetti sauce, I'm assuming):
Cook some meat in a saucepan (ground beef or italian sausage). Drain it when it's done, and then dump in the jar of sauce. Heat it on medium heat, and add any seasonings you like (I reccommend basil and rosemary). When it starts to bubble, put it on low heat and let it simmer for a few mintues. This makes a very flavorful sauce for spaghetti.

Yes - both the sauce and the pasta should be heated. You have some altenatives as to how this is done. The easiest way is to bring the sauce to a simmer on the stovetop, then add the cooked, rinsed pasta to the sauce. Or, rinse the noodles in hot water rather than cold. The reason pasta is rinsed is so the noodles will not stick together in one big glob. You can also wash out the original pot, add enough water to cover, and simmer the rinsed, cooked pasta on a very low flame until ready to serve. If all of the cooked pasta is added directly to the sauce, rinsing the pasta is optional.

How To Heat Pasta Sauce

It's really simple, and you don;t need an extra pan. Just boil and drain your pasta, then pour the sauce from the jar right over the pasta. Turn off all heat completely. Still it up and put a lid on it for a couple of minutes, and voila!

Heat it on low to medium heat until it's just simmering - you don't need to boil it, since that was done before it was put in the jar. All you need to do is heat it up - and boiling that stuff can make a HUGE mess of the kitchen :) You can cover it while heating, but it won't take too long - and you may want to stir it a few times so it will heat evenly.

If you want to warm up pasta sauce on the stovetop, you put it in a small sauce pan on low heat and cover it. You put it on low heat so it heats up slowly without any burning. You cover it so that you trap heat in the pan so it will heat up faster.

(Microwave) Small bowl, medium high (on mine) for 30 seconds, stir, another 40 seconds, if it needs stirred, stir, then if it needs it another 10, 15 seconds til it is hot enough to your liking.
