We have abandoned the Great Commission. Instead of following the command to "Go", we put out a welcome mat and say, "Come."

Are you serious?? First of all, although I am a Christian, becoming one is a big deal. There are many other religions out there with different philosophies and doctrines, and the Christian religion is a demanding one at that. Second, most people have been treated poorly by so-called christians and have been turned off to it. They could have been put through a situation that destroyed their faith. Also the idea that God sent his only son to die for us is not logical to most people and it is hard to understand. Faith is something that doesn't come easily for some. It is something that they have to find on their own, and although some people find it and some don't, it is still a big deal to say you believe in something. What is so easy for you to see is not easy for others. I have learned that the hard way, which is why if someone I know doesn't believe or is of a different religion I let them see Christ through actions, not by impressing our doctrines on them.

Because no religion is the correct one, and all religions have got it wrong, particularly Christianity.

There are many major religions in the world, such as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, and so on. Within each major religion there can also be many minor religions. For example, within Christianity there is Catholic, Protestant, Anglican and so on. Within Islam there is Shiite, Sunni etc.

In summary there are many hundreds of different religions in the world all with their devoted believers and followers. Talk to any devout religious person and they will almost emphatically insist that their religion is the right one, it’s fact, and any non-believer is doomed.

Commonsense and logic would suggest that if there was any truthful or factual basis to religion, then only one of these religions could be correct, not all of them. However, in my view, it’s highly unlikely that any of these man-made religions bear any resemblance to fact or the truth, and are more likely to be the result of simplistic human intelligence looking for an escape from reality.

Religious believers are not really recognised as being intelligent.

My studies and research shows that religious people are not exactly rocket scientists, they tend to be below average intelligence, and also have a tendency to be more violent than non-believers. In some cases, the more violent the person, the more religious they are. I suspect that the vast majority of religious people are well below average intelligence.

I wonder if trying to improve the intellectual standard of our global community, would help remove the various religions from our culture, and thereby improve happiness and peace for humanity.

There aren't that many Christians because of Christians. We, as Christians, set bad examples for the rest of society. Jesus said do not judge or you will be judged. If you're truly a Christian, don't judge others even if they offend you. He also said do not battle evil with evil, but with good. For Christians out there, start being Christians and stop being hypocrites.

Matthew 20:16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called but few chosen. Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate , and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at.14 Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth into life, and few there be that find it.
