No one can change on their own into a hateful person to a loving person without the loving spirit of God.

know that when u are hateful state of mind you dont think properly and u will only hurt yourself more.
unless u hate yourself, you will stay away from things that make u a hateful person. or at least react differently to things that make u hate.

so yes, be the change u wish to see in the world. love yourself so that you will not be part of the cause of hate.

Understanding what happened to make one hate, recognizing that hate is not the opposite of love, and healing. Love. Spirituality without religion. Therapy.

Fundementalists of all faiths teach some variation of hate towards those of other faiths. Hateful ppl that seek religion usually just end up focusing their hate on those that don't share their religious beliefs.

"Be the change you wish to see in the world"
Those are the words you typed above. Isn't that the answer to the question? Or perhaps "You will long for me and I am inside."

This may help someone if they follow this counsel:

"You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. "In your anger do not sin"[d]: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."__Ephesians 4:22-32 (NIV)

The best way to change for the better is by the power of the Holy Spirit. First tho, you need to be born again by God's Spirit.

You have to cut back on the instincts of POSESSION and greed in yourself. These are controlled actually by certain hormones that are also important for our survival. In excess, they create tension and negative emotions.
I think if one put those hormones to good productive use - work, sports, creativity - the negative feelings accociated to them go away.

exactly what Gandhi says .. be the change

i think that most people who hate others hate them self more although most would not admit this
in order to change your character you must start with yourself and learn to love yourself more
only by loving yourself and knowing yourself fully can you begin to spread that love to others

would you believe it digi if i told you i used to be very hateful :o)
if i can change anyone can change

I would say "by becoming a Christian," but clearly this term will bring up lots of cynicism and perhaps rightly so.

Therefore, I would simply say that the only thing that changed me from being a hateful person to a loving one was by accepting the gift of Jesus' death on my behalf and in response giving myself over to his loving guidance in my life on a daily basis.

Jesus literally changed (and continues to change) my hateful spirit into a more loving one. The work will not be done in this life, but continued progress is evidence of his ongoing work on my behalf.

The Bible teaches that "God is love," therefore, I don't see how it's possible to truly become loving without him.

If you're not sure, simply and quietly ask God to show you what you must do. Ask him for evidence of his existence and for direction. He will give it to you.

Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD," and will bring you back from captivity. Jeremiah 29:12-14

Many people call themselves Christians, but their lives show what is in their hearts. Do not let their example deter you from seeking the truth directly from God Himself. Here is what Jesus says of those who claim to be Christians but deceive themselves and others:

A Tree and Its Fruit
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit [behaviors, attitudes] you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

Matthew 7:15-23
