I feel your pain :( The best thing to do (I know this sounds overused/cheesy) is to start a diet and involve a friend/family member. If you have someone looking out for you it's easier to stay on track. Also take up a sport!!!!!! Even if you suck at it, it's better to be moving! Good luck.

My boyfriend is 6'4'' and he used to weigh 340lbs. He lost 120 in 7 months by running a mile or 2 at the high school track(at night) and he ate one meal a day. He never had carbs or fat (if he did it was VERY little) and he is very skinny now. But now he eats 2 or 3 meals a day and he still exercises so he can keep the weight off. Running is the best exercise for you because it works a lot of muscles and speeds up your metabolism. Since no one in your family is overweight you might have a medical problem like low thyroid. My aunt has always been fat because she has thyroid and nobody else in our family is fat. Go to the doctor and see if there is some kind of medical reason why you are overweight. Hope that helps.

Don't be so hard on yourself. First, you have a month before school starts. You should get out and excercise as much as you can. And drink as much water as you can. Eat a healthy diet and take vitamins with your biggest meal every day.
The thing about being obese as a child is that when you are a kid, you can actually gain fat cells, making it harder to be thin for the rest of your life. Whereas, if you gain weight as an adult, your fat cells grow, but they do not increase in number. You would be doing yourself a huge favor by taking control of the situation now. Good luck and don't give up.

well im 185 and im 13( as of 8/6/06) well, run, and eat only 500 calories a day every 3500 cals = 1 lb. get your BMI then keep a record of your exersices and follow your plan. eat like an apple for breakfast, then like a normal sized salad with lowfat dressing and fresh lettus and carrots for lunch. eat dinner with reduced butter fat salt sugar and carbs and cals, do NOT eat after 7:30 pm, that is when u will gain weight.
try this:(its gonna be real hard at first but this is a simple exersice to work your stomach fat and gonna help)
1 lay on your back and feet straight and together arms by ur side. 2lift your feet both together straight up as high as u can. then bend your knees in like doing a crunch but feet not touching the bed the bend straight while feet are still being held in the air, do NOT USE YOUR HANDS TO HOLD 3 bend your knees to the second possition, spread apart then back together, then your legs straight back up in the air and straight down on the bed. my freind told me about that1, it helped her i know it did. and only eat because ur hungry not because itsits there.

Start eating healthier. If you are used to eating a lot then choose foods low in fat or fat free to eat a lot of when you are very hungry (prepackaged salads are great with low fat dressing or salsa). Don't forget to eat lean proteins too. I school counselor can help you with a diet. You are a good age to start Irish dancing. Take it slow because of your weight. You can injur your joints very easily. Also, start walking. Have you family work with you and your doctor. And don't worry about looking perfect....it won't make you happy.....nobody is perfect. Think before you put food in your mouth, how much exercise will I have to do to burn this off, but don't obsess over it. You still need to eat or your body will feel deprived and hold onto the excess adipose tissue (fat). Drink lots and lots of water. Don't dring any smoothies, juice, or regular soda. If you drink diet soda, be sure to rinse your mouth with water because it can harm your teeth.

Eating less can be hard , so starting with exchanging all the unhealthy foods with fruits and vegis . At meal times you can take alot of the vegis instead of the main course. Eat all the fruits and vegis you can fit in you as often as you want, and before you know it you will be eating less because your body has alot of the nutrients that your body may be craving. So what I am saying is don't think that you have to stop eating , you can still eat as much as you like , just make the right choices when you pput something in your mouth . ok I am sure that you will be just fine. Hang in there, alannarose82002

no sodas, drink a lot of water, limit calorie intake. it depends on how much you eat at this point. I lost about 15 pounds in 3-4 weeks by cutting my calorie intake from 4000 a day to 1500 a day. It will fall off quickly and then start to plateau, but keep working after you start to plateau. stay active. Dieting alone will not help a whole lot. Make yourself sweat. Biking, running, and playing sports in general will help. Find something you like and keep at it.

The fact that your family has let this happen to you is truly Child Abuse. I am very sorry that you are living through this, especially at such a tough time in your life.
Insist that your family take you to an endocrinologist right away. Also, insist that they help you enroll in a weight loss plan like weight watchers.
You may have thyroid problems.
If your family refuses to help you, then seek advice from a councelor at school. Please do this for yourself.
Good luck to you.

I personally think that you should be happy with the way you look and not to compare yourself to others. Whenever i say I'm fat or anything that has to do with my look my sister will always tell me not to be so superficial. But just to keep fit, when you're not hungry but you want more food tell yourself not to eat it and maybe set aside an hour a day to exercise but you must remember to be very disciplined.
