Eat alot of complex carbs, like whole wheat pasta and cereals. Simple carbs like sugars and fruit juice will provide shorter-term energy. Cramping is usually a hydration issue, make sure you drink plenty of fluids the night before, its too late the day of. While on the ruck, i find that drinking excessive fluids causes me to cramp. I use a camel back and take small sips every couple of minutes.
