I would say that we should not be in a rush to grade the entire human race. A rushed grade is only a political grade, which is not a scientific or objective grade.

The real grade will be determined by the survival of the human race and we don't need some silly superficial political operative telling us whether we survived or not. We will either know it or we will not be around. Simple as that.

Your question is flawed. Don't believe all that Al Gore stuff. There is not one thing that humans can do to completely destroy the environment or earth. The heating and cooling is part of a natural cycle that has been ongoing for centuries. Big business would never destroy all the trees. They would not have a job otherwise.

There is a small amount of hypocracy in every environmentalist's post on the internet. While they preach of conservation, recycling, and pollution, I can't help but picture them sitting in their air conditioned house, blasting music on iTunes and getting red in the face over the human race's technological advances that are killing this planet.....

The human race would earn a D+ in my book. For every one of us that really try to make an effort toward protecting and preserving the delicate ecological balance between man, plants and animals, there are millions who don't give a damn.

Suppose that all of Earth's natural resources were so abundant that we'd never have to worry about using them all up. Why should that give us a license to squander those resources? If you think it's okay to rape, plunder, and pillage just because "we can", then I'd like to make a suggestion: give me all your money and I'll promise to squander all of it as quickly and as needlessly as I possibly can. After all, there's more where that came from, right?

Simple things like REturning, REusing, and REcycling would make a big difference, but most of us find it inconvenient to inconvenience ourselves. Better to just toss all our trash in a dumpster and let someone haul it off to a landfill. So we bury most of our cardboard, aluminum, used cooking grease, scrap paper, oil, steel, styrofoam, plastics, tin cans, phone books, newsprint, magazines, asphalt and glass. Why bother to try to recycle any of it? So what if in fifty years those landfills will leach toxic poisons and we will have to wear gas masks in order to breathe clean air?

And so what if we drill for oil in the caribou's migratory path? It only affects a few remote Eskimo tribes who depend on the caribou for food, clothing and shelter. We need that oil to fuel our gas-guzzling $60,000 SUVs; the hell with those Eskimos!

And so what if we chop down all the rainforests in the world so more cattle can graze and McDonald's can sell us billions and billions of more cheap hamburgers? We need that fast food - even though by destroying the rain forests, we might also destroy a rare species of frog whose venom might contain a cure for cancer. So what?

And so what if our smoke-belching factories and vehicle emissions continue to pollute the air and our water supplies. So what if the polar ice caps melt faster than normal. So what if that causes horrific hurricanes, phenomenal floodings, and other 'natural' disasters in all the cities on both coasts of both major oceans?

And so what if asphalt over all the richest farm land on Earth to build glitzy new shopping malls and more WalMarts? Just because farmers won't have land on which to grow crops does not bother us. We get all our food from a supermarket, right?
Of course, if farmers can't grow crops, there will be no food to be shipped to those supermarkets, but we don't want to think about that. So what?

Americans need to take a leadership role in protecting and preserving our planet's environment. We DON'T need to take a leadership role in starting illegal wars. We need to do it NOW. It's time for the Green Party to take a stronghold position in American politics. So what? -RKO-

i would give the human race a D. we suck. some people that don't eat meat and are careful to recycle and not waste are good to the planet, but the aaverage person litters and wastes food and resources, and drives everywhere, using up gas. we're pretty bad. go see the al gore movie "an inconvienient truth". it will give you the answer.

Hey on the flip side, the environment can kick us in the butt too. Volcano's, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, global warming, global cooling, and so on. Millions and Millions of people killed, lets not forget the billions of animals and it doesn't seem to want to stop. Ying/Yang ;-)
