I'm not against them, but personally not interested in having one, either. I think that if you can handle the circumstance, and can enjoy it for what it is, then go for it. Just do what is necessary to avoid STDs and pregnancy.
For me, I'd have to have an intimate history with someone before I'd even consider sleeping with them, and mutual monogamy is a must. Emotionally, I couldn't bare knowing that I slept with someone on a whim, and that they didn't care much about me outside of that.

One night stands tend to fill a void, but only temporarily and then you are left feeling even more alone than before. They are a bad idea, especially with the prevalence of all the STD's. Buy a book.

I don't like them because the next day you are right back where you started. I would prefer to have a relationship with substance instead of an empty shallow one night stand.

Well, I don't do too well in that department...it seems that no one wants me for just one night...so I ended up developing a long term relationship with a lady which is very meaningful and rich...so I can't really complain about not getting laid when I didn't have anyone.

I've never had one and I feel that they're unnecessary for me at this time. Maybe if I wasn't in a committed relationship, I might have one. I think they're fine as long as both parties know what's going on and no one is leading anyone on.

No problem with them at all. If two people (or more, I suppose) want to go for it for a bit of fun, it's perfectly fine. I don't get people who are hung up on stuff like this. Life's too short not to enjoy every moment you can.

Reallly it depends on the situation. If I go out with a guy, just for the sole intention of getting laid, I won't speak to him again. But if I go out with a guy that I really like, I won't sleep with him on the first date, cause it'll just make me look cheap.

It is what it is, but keep in mind that one night stands are dangerous. In the respect that you don't know this person or what this person is about.
The world is made up of rapist, murderers, diseases, and a life long incident a BABY!

One night stands are ok if you're single and not looking to be attached to anyone. I'm NOT single, soooooo... I think its time I break up... LOL
