I use milk. It makes the hot chocolate richer.

For my hot chocolate, one way I make it is to warm up the milk, and when it's hot to the touch, I add a vanilla bean to the milk to infuse the milk, or to absorb the flavor of the milk with the vanilla.

Then for the chocolate, I take really good chocolate, melt it in a metal bowl over a pan of simmering water, add a little bit of espresso or really good coffee to it, stir that up and set it aside.
I take the vanilla bean out, pour the chocolate espresso sauce in, stir it up, pour into some coffee mugs, top with homemade whipped cream, dust with cocoa powder and top it all off with some chocolate shavings. Enjoy!

No homemade recipes, but my daughter is a COCOA freak (in a good way, of course!). She loves cocoa and would drink it thorough out the day if allowed.

Therefore, I know a bit about it. I ONLY use milk. For creamier cocoa, use 1/2 and 1/2.

If you are cutting fat, you can still have yummy cocoa. There are delicious no sugar added and diet cocoas out there (Swiss Miss). You can make it with low or no-fat milk and then add flavored creamers (also no sugar or low fat). French Vanilla tastes awesome in cocoa. I also like hazelnut. With so many varieties, you cannot go wrong!

Also, we grow mint plants. Sometimes we'll put a mint leaf in the cocoa or add a cinnamon stick. Then there's the good old add-marshmallow bit!

We also heated up Mexican chocolate called Barra in milk. It was sooo good and strong! It was like hot cocoa with a powerful blast.

There are 1000 ways to enjoy hot chocolate -- mainly SAVOR it. Enjoy!

Milk. If you're using a mix like Swiss Miss, you can use water.

Water. My hot chocolate recipe uses ground chili pepper and orange rind. You just mix everything together and serve.

I like mine with milk because it makes it more creamier. I also put a few marshmallows on top, that's good!
