the owner of the male i bred my dog with is making me mad.
my b/f usually talks to him b/c its his friend. the guy told me today on the phone he wants the pick of the litter or 500.00
then he said my b/f needs to bring all the puppies to him and he will sell them that day, the stud owner said he has people to sell them to and the people are going to breed the puppies

i dont want this to happen. i want them to go to good homes as family pets. i want to pick the owners.
then we dont even know if its this guys pupies because we bred our dog with 2 males.

what should i do? the stud owner has 2 kids and 1 on the way he already has 3 dogs but had to give one away to his mom b/c he had to many now he wants a puppy. and he doesnt even have a job. he lives off breeding dogs

what should i do? this guy is a big time loser and i think he should be in jail that is animal cruelty rite? living off dog breeding?

Well let's slow down for a minute. I am a breeder of Pitbulls (APBT) and American Staffordshire Terriers, and I go to school full time and my fiance and I both work full time so we are not just living off our dogs, I also take in rescues at our kennel and find them good and loving homes. So there are some good breeders that are not at all like the stud owner that you are describing. I hope that you are not breeding the same dogs as I described, as he is the perfect example of the people that I think should not be allowed to own,let alone breed these dogs. All pet ownership should require a license!
But now that I am done with my ranting (SORRY!), back to your question. Have you already bred your female dog to his stud? If not DON"T! If you have already then go with the original agreement, either give him 1 puppy (although I dislike that idea as much as you do!), or give him the $500.00 (please email me to the breed of your dogs, and whether or not they are registered because I doubt that they are, reputable breeders usually don't have these problems, I don't see his dog's sperm being worth that much, how much do you think you will sell the puppies for? But if you cannot fathom iving him the pup, just give him the money, and be done with it. I would explain in detail that there would be no way that he is taking and selling your puppies, that is just ridiculous! If he has prospective buyers hecan send them your way,and if they are worthy you will sell them a pup, if not too bad he can sell some of his own dogs that he cannot acre for. If he is unwilling to do this then there can only be one reason, he is trying to make some more money for himself. For example, you can say that the pups are $200 and then he sells them to people for $300+, do you think that you would ever see any of that money? Heck no! This guy does not sound like a good guy, or friend. So I am very concerned. I have a stud that I have used only twice outside of my own females, and that is because I am familiar with the other person's kennel, we established fees and pups beforehand, and had a written contract. I try to mostly establish a cash payment, and let them deal with the pups. If you have any more ?'s please feel free to email me: pitbullluvr11@yahoo.com, I am concerned and curious about your dogs and how this will turn out!
There are alot of things to consider when breeding dogs, the health of your dog and the other dog, shots and health up to date, are the bloodlines a good match, and so on, not to mention the dealings with the other dog's owner need to be right!

IF the male was an american/international show champion the owner of the male wouldnt get two pups. If you hear of two pups as a fee this is ALWAYS in return for a valuable bit** (show quality) who has been sold and will be bred, the breeder of the girl is selling HER and part of the price are future puppies, usually one in the first litter and one subsequent... and the pick of the litter the first time... You have learned an important lesson.. Never never again breed your female without a WRITTEN CONTRACT,,,and always pay a set amount for the mating. the contract should read that if pups do not result from the first matings then the next time the bit** comes into season you have another opportunity to mate the pair, and that is what should have been the price,,, YOU could offer one pup be picked by the other party, but again you should be careful here, if this is a nice litter of pricey dogs then you might not wish to give up a girl in the litter. Personally, I would not give up the right to keep the pick puppy, this is why cash is the best option and NOT a puppy. Is this litter akc registered? if it is then you need the pups papers signed by the owner of the sire before you get akc registration, and she could hold up the registration by refusing to sign.. You have done business with an unscrupulous woman, you must refuse to give her anything but the price of ONE pup.. If she would rather have the pup than the cash then give her ONE. Unfortunately she might have the right to take the pick and then she could hold up the sale of the pups by not deciding for months. Please never do this again without a signed bulletproof contract, if you look online you might find one for your situation........for your present problem do not give her two pups, the matter must go to small claims court, she will lose.

The owner of the stud normally gets one puppy, often the pick puppy if that is what you agreed to. He has no right to sell the others or do anything with them. They are yours to do what you want. Sounds like your plan to get them good homes where they won't be bred is a good one. I'd recommend the same for your female, unless she is a breed champion.

Was any of this news to you? You should have had this all worked out before you had your dogs doing the dirty deed. Why on earth would you have bred your dog to a random dog, and then not discussed the terms, let alone breeding it to two dogs!!! As far as what to do, you should tell the other guy to bite you, as the pups are yours. If you are going to find them homes, then do so. If he can prove that the pups are his, that you had a contract to give him the pups, and prove paternity through DNA, then fine.

But whatever you do, please do the rest of us a favor and spay your dog. You don't need to be bringing more pups into the world.

As the owner of the female, YOU are the litter owner..You can do anything you want to do with the puppies unless you SIGNED a contract..A verbal one will not hold up..If he takes you to court, he will just be out court costs, and he will lose..
Stand firm, and don't mess with this guy..You do owe him a pup, or the price of one pup, but not the pick of the litter...That is traditionally
reserved for the litter owner...
Again, stand firm, and let him know that you know the law..You are to report him to the police if he harasses you... if your boyfriend sides with him..then consider it a blessing that you learned of his disloyalty before getting more involved..

If it is a matter of needing the stud dog owner to sign registration papers..just let him know that you will sell the pups with or without papers, and if he wants the price of one pup, his share will be more money (price of the one pup will be higher) if they are papered.

Wow makes me so glad I was always smart enough to have a contract before breeding a dog.
First off give him pick of the litter or pay him that is fair. As for the rest of the pups they are yours to do with as you please.
If he has people who wnat them he can send them to you to buy them from you.
WHY did you breed your dog to 2 different studs?
Now you can not even register the pups really becasue you have no idea who fathered them.

The original contract stands. The puppies are yours. At this point you tell him that you will give him the $500.00 and he needs to walk away. Be firm. And why is bf siding with him? He should be sticking up for you.
Call the police or animal control. They can investigate him for cruelty.
Let this be a lesson to you. Spaying your pets has many benefits.
