Well, there are 8 ounces in 1 cup. There are also 2 tablespoons in 1 oz. 1/8 of a cup is 1 oz. so using the a = b = c formula, we get the following:
a) 1/8 cup = b) 1 oz. = c) 2 tablespoons
And since we know from the formula that a = b and b = c and a = c, we take the last of the three equations and conclude that a = c, or 1/8 cup = 2 tablespoons.
