Kabbala is an ancient study of deep mystical texts in orthodox Judaism, first recorded by a man named Rabbi Yochanan Ben Zakai from thousands of years ago. It's not a religion in itself, although much of what you hear today in the media seems to show that it is becoming one. Whatever Madonna thinks she's doing is not religious or whatever, it's competely bogus, run by a very smart "rabbi" who knows how to make a quick buck. The real thing, which in its most authentic form studied by a tiny sliver of ultra-orthodox Jews, and has been passed down for centuries for only the most learned, requires years and years of study and immersion to understand it, which is some sort of knowledge of "the secrets of the universe". Whatever that is, I do not know.

Just another "fad" religion that gives you a string bracelet when you have contributed a million dollars to them. Kind of like a cult, but you are free to roam. Between that and Tom Cruise with his Scientology, I think they are all on some drug the common people are not aware of...............BUT the guy at the top is brilliant. Anyone that make these people do what he does is a multi billionaire by now. The stupid, uneducated stars think they are special with a red string that cost less than a dollar for the whole ball of string.............Guess what? We could have a red string if we wanted one too.....I know where Walmart is..............

Kabbalah is a form of mysticism that has Jewish root. It is not really a religion but rather a mystical path. Many other traditions have found it helpful. I'm Neopagan and I've learned a great deal from studying the Kabbahla. I have friends who are everything from Christians to Atheist who use Kabbalistic ideas and meditations.

So yea... Lots of good stuff.

Kabbalah, Qabala, Qabalah, Kabala - many spellings, what is it?
The American heritage Dictionary says,
"cab·a·la or cab·ba·la also kab·a·la or kab·ba·la (k²b“…-l…, k…-bä“-) n. 1. Often Cabala. A body of mystical teachings of rabbinical origin, often based on an esoteric interpretation of the Hebrew Scriptures. 2. A secret doctrine resembling these teachings. --cab“a·lism n. --cab“a·list n.

The Cabala is not a religion, but a collection of teachings, which are highly symbolic. One of the mysteries is the Cabala Tree of Life. Scholars have said that its origin is not meant for man to know, only God knows. However, its origin, not published yet, has been found in the early 1980s by Dr. Bara H. Loveland. She will hopefully publish it as an e-book on her web site http://www.biochakra.com

Jewish and other people study the Cabala and scholars try to interprete it. One of the most amazing statements to me is that God has two aspects: the unknowable, everlasting, Uncreated God, and the God of Creation and in all creation. For me it makes God more understandable. Ancient symbolism, may be from before 30,000 BC, shows the belief in one God (monotheism) and later these the symbolism presents two aspects of God, signified as female (but not using the original two aspects), before a male God can be historically proven.

There is also the Shekina in the Jewish faith, the female aspect of God, which I see as an ancient remainder of an even more ancient faith.

You can purchase books on the Cabala or the text of it itself. You may want to try different spellings. It is a very interesting text, still holding mysteries for humankind.

Wishing you exciting discoveries. Thanks for asking!

As an orthodox jew: "kabbalah" as "practiced" by madonna and her likes is a scam. It has as much to do with actual kabalah as scientology has to do with science.

The fact that so many see it as its own religion should speak volumes, since traditionally kabala was more a matter philosophy as opposed to practices.

Oh, I thought it was B'hai or something like that. Madonna took on the name Esther which is Jewish so I assume it is some sort of fad spin off of Judeaism.
