I know this sounds ridiculous, but I have a problem w/ eating lots of cookies (let alone other desserts). I need 2 lose weight, but every time I try, I always resort to my comfort food of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. I know u have 2 make a personal decision to lose weight, and every time I get motivated, the cravings kick in. Any advice? I exercise, but I need 2 do it everyday, not just when I feel like I need to. Thanks and please don't think I'm crazy- I just luv cookies and I always have since I was little. BTW- I'm 17 yrs. old, so diet pills r a no-no.

Like cookie monster on what is now called "play with me sesame" has now learned in this PC environment ... COOKIES ARE A SOMETIMES FOOD!
Try snacking on different things.
Nuts
(especially those addictive little green pistachio ones) :)
Yoghurt
Low GI snacks... biscuits or cereal
Celery
Fruit
Fruit bar/flat roll up things
Get rid of the cookies from your house. Just don't have them about. Stock your place with alternative snacks. It'll make it easier to choose them.

I think the cravings lessen after a few days (just like an addiction, you go through "withdrawal"), so if you can just take it a day at a time without eating any cookies, you will find their hold on you is not so strong. Find a hobby or something you really enjoy to help pass the time and take your mind of cookies. And keep up with the exercising! I know just how you feel. Cookies are my FAVORITE! After you start losing some weight, you will be inspired and that will help you even more to say NO. Good Luck! You can do it!!!

Join the club. Cookies are deadly. I can't pass them up either. The only thing that gets me through it is to avoid being around them. Ok, it also helps to avoid snacks between meals as a policy, and to pick out how much I'll eat before I sit down at the table. There are no cookies in this house. Those that do get here are gone within a few days.
It also helps to be sure that you are not prediabetic, diabetic, hypothyroid, or have any other metabolic disorders which can make a cookie taste quite heavenly.
I'd like to take a few bytes to agree with you on diet pills. Diets, especially those which involve extreme sacrifice or deprivation of any element of nutrition are bad for you. They work for about two to four weeks while your body figures out how to deal with them. After that, your body will work ever so much harder to put store energy (read pounds) to accomodate the next diet.
ok. now you did it. where can I find a few cookies to munch on...

Diet pills should stay a no-no, they don't work and will only worsen your health.
Exercise and healthy foods are the only long term answer to having a healthy body weight.
Try replacing junk food with healthy food and avoid having any temptation in your home. I have a weakness for ice cream and I don't allow any in my house, except with an occasional lapse.
Usually when something emotional is going on in life, that's when my cravings for junk kick in. Over eaters Anonymous is a self help group for dealing with food compulsions and may be appropriate for you now or later, or not at all... I can't tell from such a short post.
Get an exercise buddy and involve your family in your decision to eat healthy. The more support you have the better.

OK. You should do a body cleans where you eliminate dairy and gluten products from your diet. No gluten means no wheat, barley, oats or anything that's made from them.
If you do a body cleans rather than a diet you will completely avoid the food. You can't eat a stitch of it for 3-4 months. You will see yourself lose weight so rapidly you won't want to start eating dairy or gluten again. At the very least, you'll have more control because you'll see what an effect it has on your body.
Good luck with it. I know it's hard to control cravings, but you can do it!!

Try to hold it in for 15 mins. I heard cravings only last that long. And also, try buying DDR (dance dance revolution). It may sound silly, but it's a really good way to lose weight, because it's fun. And try not buying cookies, not looking at cookies. Get a friend to stop you from eating any cookies.

allow your self to have cookies just not in the amount you are used to. If you really have a craving have one or 2 and enjoy them fully. Sit down have a glass of milk or a coffee whatever and slowly eat them, saver them. Do not wolf down 6 or 12 or 26 !!! It is okay to eat cookies in moderation. also make sure you are eating healthy foods too. eat lots of fruit (hey it is summer time, nows the time to eat it) it's sweet and it may satisfy your craving, I like to eat partly frozen grapes! Do exercise and eat healthy foods and your cravings may not be as bad. You might also want to be checked for candida (yeast) those that are addicted to sweets quite often have candida and candida thrives on sugar

Don't stop eating ALL cookies; that is what is causing your cravings. Allow yourself 1 or 2 a day as a reward for sticking to your diet.

When you drop those cookies, make them smaller, put them in a zip lock bag, throw it in your freezer and only allow yourself only so many per day. Maybe what you can do is only eat one each time when you are drinking a cup of coffee/ tea/ juice on your mid morning or mid afternoon breaks.
Do your exercises more than once a day. Find some that you can do everytime you think about it anywhere -- in the house, in the backyard, walking anywhere.

Talk to a friend who is interested in losing weight as well. Make a pact to call each other when the craving hits. Support each other and agree to go shopping together once you have both lost x amount of pounds. Good luck!
