I have used stink bait, and nightcrawlers I was wondering if there are any other types that can be made easily or commercialy bought that work very well.

I USED to use chicken livers, but I have switched to blood flavored doughballs in the last two years. Anytime I have fished chicken livers and blood balls at the same time, the blood balls get five bites for every chicken liver bite. When the fish are biting good I can hardly keep a pole in the water they bite so fast.

Also, doughballs stay on the hook better (meaning you can cast harder), are not messy, and don't have to be refrigerator. My favorite brand is Magic Bait;s either chicken or beef blood, but any brand will work better than livers.

I know this may sound a little weird but it has worked for me many of times. Corn, get a can of corn. If you can go to the spot where you are going to fish early and throw out about half the can and come back that night and you should catch some. Good luck hope it works for you. It's atleast worth a shot. Won't cost ya but about a dollar. I usually put about 3 kernals on the hook. Make sure you use a weight to way the line down so it will go to the bottom. Enjoy! Cat fishing is so much fun.

Since you are going to a city park if there are ducks that people bring bread to feed them the fish are use to eating bread. Try some bread rolled up into balls and put cinnamon all over the bread balls. If you use chicken liver be sure to cut it into small pieces because the fish will pull it off without biting the hook. You can also use live or died minnows.

you might try green nightcrawlers. you can contact your local bait and tackle store to see if they have any made up. I have been selling a bunch of them and I'm currently out but in the process of makeing more. we put a chemical made for just this purpose and the worms eat it and turn a chartruse color of a bit green, customers say the channel cats go crazy over them. good luck

Get youself some pantyhose. Cut some off and make a little bag, fill with chicken livers and give it a good squeeze. The bloodier, the better. Tie the bag to the line with a heavy sinker and toss it in.

Chicken liver works well, but it will come off your line. This is the best way I've found to keep it on your hook; once you have the liver on the hook wrap sewing thread around it & it won't come off your hook & it makes it harder for smaller fish such as bluegill to rob your bait. If you can find them catawba worms work great.

Stink bait is probably still the best but if you find a bait with cheese, they go for those too.

chicken livers, they're nasty, bloody, and the cat fish love them. Make sure you use a good weight, no bobber, and just put it on the bottom.
