I write. Or go play with my little cousins and my dog. If I just sit there doing nothing, it only gets worse.
Besides, I've written some pretty profound things in the midst of a rut.

First I break out my favorite flavor ice cream and savor every second of that moment. I think only about the moment I am in right here and right now... Nothing else matters past, present, or future. No matter what, nothing will keep me from enjoying this moment.

Then I call a close friend or family member I can confide in and just talk about what's going on. Whatever is bothering me I try to sort it out by expressing my thoughts and feelings and hearing what others have to say about it. It gives me a chance to understand what's going on my head when someone else is there to listen and rationalize it from an outside perspective. When you have a clearer understanding of what's going on in your head, then you can understand the problem and find a way to deal with it.

Once you feel you can get ahold of the problem and take control, then you will feel alot better and it will make more sense.

If you still don't know why you are feeling depressed, then go seek professional help. This is just what works for me, and I'm no professional so take what I say with a grain of salt.

When i get real depressed i don't want to do anything i normally like, or see any of my friends, even talk with my family. i just need to be alone. although that doesnt help because then thoughts of suicide appear. basically i then have to either close my eyes and fall asleep or put some music on, something relaxing, something that even though i hate it now i know i normally love, and then just try to get into it and forget about my depression. DEPRESSION F*CKING SUCKS A*S PERIOD

I get out of the house and go for a LONG walk ! It's a great way to let your mood change. Also, don't stay in one place: if you are depressed in the house, get out of the house etc. If that doesn't work try a pint of ben and jerry's and a good movie...unless the reason why you are depressed is weight related..

hey man whats up?? a lot of people tell you to do this and do that when you get depressed. but when youre depressed those things just dont cut it. a lot of the times there isnt much to do to get over your depression. smoke?? sounds like a bad idea but if nothing can shake it.. go ahead and light it up. youll feel better in minutes. **** what all everybody else thinks.

Usually, I will go for a walk OR talk to my dogs. See, I realized that I can say anything to my animals and they will never tell a soul. They listen to me and seem to understand. Have you ever noticed when you are sad and upset they are too? They "feel" our pain. I hope you are not depressed. Life is too short and precious to be depressed.

I cry, I flip out, I feel like sh*t, everybody knows when I am depressed because I find it impossible to hide it. I don't want to do anything, I feel blah, I used to cut myself, but then I had kids and I don't do that anymore. If I didn't have them, I would probably still do that. Don't do it though, it isn't a good idea.

After a good cry, I tend to pray and start thanking God for all the good things in life. Soon the problem that had me depressed dies away and a new hope arises in me.
