Well, long ago I used to do telemarketing, and once contacted a Scot in Glasgow. He was a lovely person; chatty and friendly as most Scots are. Trouble was, he was speeding through his conversation but to me it sounded like a completely foreign language - I was utterly lost! It was Rab C on the phone! If you remember the BBC TV series, Rab C. Nesbitt - that's all I could picture in my mind at the time. It was all I could do to stifle my chuckles. Incidentally, I'm a native East Yorkshire speaker, myself. The Scots are warm and friendly, I just can't understand their language!!

I prefer Scots accent but my parents are Scottish so I understand what the Scots are saying.
A lot of my friends couldn't understand what my parents were saying.
My Scottish cousins don't understand my Yorkshire accent.

I'm Irish so I don't get to hear the accents first-hand most of the time, but i think the scottish accent can be really sexy. The english can be really sophisticated or sharp, but it can also be really annoying. It depends on the accent, there are so many. As long as its not too strong i'd say the Scottish is my favourite.

Love the soft lull of the Scottish accent, just love how the Glaswegians speak so fast, they are so cool, I love the posh accent of some English, but as I am a Yorkshire lass I have to say we have a fab accent even if it is unfathomable to some.

Lots of idiots here, as usual.
As if there was only one Scottish accent.
Same as everywhere else, it changes every 20 miles.
From soft lilting country tongues to hard-edged industrial nasal whines, it's all here.
If you think there is a standard Scots one then you are just plain ignorant and cannot be helped.
