Ok I can help you. Been there.........my hubs from Texas he is now living here in the UK.

Your fiance would do well to get married on US soil that is what we did.......got married in Houston.

Then go to Chicago for your Entry clearance visa. Its easier than posting it to LA.

Your fiance in the UK will need to supply you with the following documents when you go to the embassy in Chicago.

1. Proof of the following.
He can provide for you and your child so you will need bank statements... payslips.

2. Proof that he is working or has a financial guarantor who will support you all until you are able to find work.

3. Proof you both will have somewhere to live in the UK. Copy of your tenancy agreement or mortgage documents.

4. Proof that when you arrive in the UK you will be looking for work. So start writing to UK companys and get some correspondence going between the two of you even from the US.

5. You will need his birth certificate and once your married a copy of your wedding licence.

6. Proof of any savings and investments he might have.

7. Proof of any savings and investments you might have.

8. A notorised copy of his passport

9. If either of you have been married before, copies of the desolved marriages too. You have to prove you got divorced legally. - nearly forgot that one.

The cost of an entry clearance visa varies month to month so check the costings from the home office website.

If you take your documentation into the chicago office you have to deliver it before 10 am in the morning to get it back after 3.30pm the same day. But I would advise you get married in the US first it makes life so much easier in the end.

If I can be of any further assistance.......email me through this website ok? Good Luck and I hope you enjoy living in the UK as much as my husband does.......We live in the East Midlands, if you are planning to live near us, it would be nice to hear how you get on and keep in contact.

It has been 3 years so far for me and I am still waiting. You can apply for a K-2 or K-3 visa which would allow them to enter the country pending approval of the i130 form you need to submit. Lemme tell you..prepare to keep forking over money and get ready for a looonnnggg wait..go to www.uscis.gov for more info.
Hmmm..in that case probably the quickest way to do it would be to apply for an "unmarried partner" visa with the United Kingdom. It allows you to live there and there are no work restrictions.
