How do you change the default program that jpeg images open with on Widows?

Question

I cannot view thumbnails of jpeg photos using a friends computer, in windows explorer, the default program requires that i open every photo separately to view. Please help.

Use [Shift] + [Right-Click] and select the the Open With... option, then you select which program you would like to use. If you prefer, you can also uncheck the box to set the application as the default application for that file extension.

I don't believe that you have to change the file association, just go to the folder where the pictures are, right click in an open area where the pics are, go to view, choose thumbnails. That will change them to thumbnail view, then at the top of your window is the menu bar, go to tools, folder options, view, choose "apply to all folders", it will pop up a menu window that will state something like, "this will be in effect the next time you open the folder". Click the Start button and open My Computer.
Click the Tools menu and select Folder Options.
Click the File Types tab.
Scroll down the list of file extensions until you find JPEG. Click it once.
Click the Change button and select whatever program you wish to use to open JPEG files.
Click OK.

You may want to do this for JPG files also.

right click on image select open with. and select from a list what you want as the program to use to open it. select box that says always use for this type of file. that also applies to any other program you want to set as default.
