My phone bill is more than doubled with its taxes and state / federal fees. How can this be legal?

So, cancel your telephone service and just use free email etc...do you really need to be on the phone that much? When I last had my phone back home, I was amazed how much of it was tax. It was really stupid. State/federal/local fees, I think I made about 20 calls a month, if that and they were all local. But, it's the same on your utility bill...as a consumer, you get robbed. consume less, get robbed less...make YOUR house payment, not someone else's...

If your phone bill is like mine, your bill would be virtually nothing, right (use cell phones for most services). But, here's the reason for the rest of the charges. There are local and state taxes (virtually nothing), but then come the sur-charges. For example, in many areas, the 911 fees are a minimum of a percentage or an amount. Also, there are sometimes infrastructure fees passed by the state or local community. My phone bill is about $9.00 a month, and my fees are about the same.

ANd, I sure would rather have 911 service, upgraded for cell phone and location pin-pointing (etc.) and if it costs $10 a month, I will pay it. If you do not like the fees, vote for another legislator, or get another plan (like, for example, computer phone, etc.)
