They have probably found a way to cut costs, that also cuts the taste. Everything is about profit.

Only the mega-brewery horse p*** tastes bad. Check out micro-brews, or Samuel Adams, which is now a major brand but still has the microbew 'tude. See if there are any brewpubs nearby, especially if they are independents (i.e., not part of a chain). There are plenty of outstanding beers brewed in the USA, and lots more that are at least palatable.

Other respondents have said the same thing - stay away from Bud, Coors, and all that megabrew "beer" and find some microbrews and/or brewpubs.

There are plenty of good beers brewed in America, just not the most popular ones. Lots of microbrews these days. You are correct about light Beer.

For some reason a lot of people don't like flavor in their beer here or just go along with what's popular.

There are plenty of good American beers out there you just have to look for them. Here are just a few producers of some fine beers. To bad I do not have more room because there are many more. Imports are great to. You just have to get out there and taste as many beers as you can. I do not do light beers. To me they lack flavor. Enjoy.

1. Karl Strauss Brewing Company,
2. Dixie Brewing Co.
3. Flying Dog Brewery
4. Red Hook Brewing Co.

Personally I think all beer is bad. American beer needs to be really cold and either bottled or draft (and still sucks), German beer is even harsher than American, and don't get me started on Guinness. I don't like it warm or cold. Now if beer wasn't so freaking bitter I might drink it, but until then, yeah, I still think it all sucks.

Try the microbrews and leave the megabrews behind you. Bud, Coors, and Miller are bad examples of beer that are successful only because it's bought by people too cheap to buy the good stuff.

American commercial beer is crap because the American Public has been conditioned by advertising to accept crap. Light beer is a crime against nature and should only be given to children .............as punishment! To even be allowed to be called beer is offensive. If it ain't black, it ain't beer.

I'm assembling a list of things America makes better than anyone else:

1. Boobs
2. Drug Addicts
3. Money
4. Shallow Entertainment

And, in case I forgot : Boobs.

Still working on the list, though...

It's because European beer is brewed from MALT

Whereas, American beer is brewed from RICE

The latter is cheaper than the former.
