Do Americans like English accents?

it is a commonly held conception here that if you go into an American bar and have a British/English accent you will be automatically popular esp. with the females.

true or not??? i kind of doubt it.

Yes, I wish I had one. I don't know about the bar thing, it's never happened to me, but English accents are very sexy.

i dont think americans have actually heard a normal english accent. all those english accents in the films (americans only communication with outside america) sound like they're brits from the 19th century or are really posh.

I say everything goes back to personality and who you are. But there are some chicks here that go nuts for any guy with an accent. I mean they will literally eat you up, just because you sound different than someone they are used to.

well living in america with an english accent i have found they do like the accent but i have never tryed it for dating so would not know if it works in bars.

I think so, it's something different. We all like a little change every now and then so when a Englishman comes around, you like to hear them talk and hear their sayings and stuff, it's kind of cool. Women especially like to question a man to death if he's of another culture, its fascinating. Those accents are pretty hot too, I'd like to carry a conversation with Prince William, Di's oldest son, I think he's hot.

Well most American women I know are totally captivated by an British accent especially if the guy speaking it is friendly enough to use it.

most Americans adore the English accent because it sounds interesting and superior. I like it because the guys sound cuter when they speak that way. And it is easier to listen to.
