I'm actually just starting a new relationship with someone who works opposite shift as I do. We make it work by spending the quality time we can on our off-days and attempting to rework our schedules to suit each other's days off. A good way to ensure the relationship stays strong is to build a strong base for communication and friendship, so it's not always about the physical time spent together.

Well, my husband and I are on opposite shifts. And to be honest, I am ready to kick him to the curb. We never, never go out. I wake him up to tell him I am leaving to my job, or I am in bed when he comes home. I hate it. He will not leave his job at all. He is choosing his job over me. ~ It is costing him his marriage. I warned him a year ago, to start going out with his family. He has some, but he still prefers to stay home.

It really depends on the strength of the relationship itself and not the hours you work. My husband and I have to travel a lot because of our jobs and someimes we don't see each other for months. It gets really hard but as long as you love each other deeply you can find a way to make it work. It's a lot of work but it is certainly worth it.

i am going thru the same thing now my shift is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and his is from 3pm to 12 am and im having a fit but how we deal with it is every free minute we spend together and we respect one another when we say we are tired so if you really want to work this out then do just that WORK IT OUT
