A plain and literal reading of Revelation does not support the contention or the belief of certain Christian fundamentalists. The terms ‘Apocalypse’ and ‘battle of Armageddon’ are not found anywhere in the Revelation. In fact, the Greek word ‘Apocalypse’ literally means ‘uncovering’ or ‘revelation’ and does not imply death or destruction. The word ‘Armageddon’ is found only once - in Rev. 16:16 - and not in connection with any battle of annihilation.
The doctrine of an apocalyptic battle of Armageddon is a myth popularized by the pulp media and is not found in the Revelation. Surprisingly, even reputable dictionaries have fallen prey to the non-Biblical Armageddon myth in giving its usage as ‘the final battle between good and evil.’ It is originally the invention of the injured minds of abused persons who have experienced their own personal childhood apocalyptic battle of Armageddon at the hands of their parents and caregivers. Such persons not only take their God Writings literally, but also invent teachings not found by a literal reading of those Writings.

last census put them at two thousand million, that is two Billion, 2,000,000,000. This compares to the number of 350,000,000 for USA population. That is about 5.7 times the number of people. You can add the population of much of South Asia, and maybe India to that. The millions of Muslims in the middle east have not a lot of reason to love the US either. Still believe George is right to want to take on the whole world? And which way does Russia or the majority of the EU think. I think most of Africa is too mired in civil war and tribalism to count for much on either side, but who knows.

You've got the figure wrong. It's 1.3 billion. That's why China has been adopting a one-child policy which most of you in the west happily brand it "draconion".

Armageddon? All of you in the west can relax. Why would China refer to the Bible in conducting its world affairs? Only countries of hegemony would repeatedly refer to the superbeing or god's book in justifying its war against or invasion of other countries.

You have more to worry about countries which have religious references in their constitution than a country which is fastly plagued by an ageing population.

There are a billion Chinese, most of them are called Wing and Wong, so if you're calling there to ask about the Armageddon you're suggesting, be careful you don't Wing the Wong number.

What the hell is this supposed to mean. There are more than a billion Chinese, and most of them are Buddhist. I guess Christianity is not real because there are more people that practice Buddhism.

Do you believe in vague prophecy more than you believe in reality? There already are (and have been for a long time) twice as many people in the world who think the Bible is nonsense as there are who believe it (and the group who "believe it" comprises many who only say they do for political expediency). Don't you think the Bible-thumpers would have perished long-ago if there were any veracity to any prophecy? You can't just keep moving the goalposts further back!

The official count is 1.3 billion, actually. I know this because I just got back from living there for a year.

And, even though they have a huge military, they are poorly trained. They're all just kids with unfitting uniforms and outdated technology.
