How long does it take for a female dogs milk to dry up once she stops feeding her pups?

It should happen pretty quick. I'd say a couple weeks and it will be completely dried up.

It can take as long as 7 days, I usually slow wean over a long period of time.
I will allow the mom to be with the puppies for a quick "visit" of about 3 or 4 minutes (this is after the pups are at least 8 or 9 weeks old) then remove her.
I do this once or twice a day for about a week, it makes it a lot less painful on the mom if her milk is drained a little to keep the bags from being so swollen and hot.
This is with my small Chihuahua's that usually have small litters.
I can't begin to imagine the pain a large bred dog would go through if weaned "cold turkey" from a large litter.

it will help her if you change her feed to a reduced protien kibble until she is dried..Put her on a GOOD quality senior or weight loss kibble.
