I am a Christain myself and I have seen people claim they are Christains and then say that They have dust for brains when they said it to us? Is that not stooping to their level? Live for God...Dont insult the people that dont.

No religion is the correct one, and all religions have got it wrong.

There are many major religions in the world, such as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, and so on. Within each major religion there can also be many minor religions. For example, within Christianity there is Catholic, Protestant, Anglican and so on. Within Islam there is Shiite, Sunni etc.

In summary there are many hundreds of different religions in the world all with their devoted believers and followers. Talk to any devout religious person and they will almost emphatically insist that their religion is the right one, it’s fact, and any non-believer is doomed.

Commonsense and logic would suggest that if there was any truthful or factual basis to religion, then only one of these religions could be correct, not all of them. However, in my view, it’s highly unlikely that any of these man-made religions bear any resemblance to fact or the truth, and are more likely to be the result of simplistic human intelligence looking for an escape from reality.

You may not like this, but religious believers are not really recognised as being intelligent.

My studies and research shows that religious people are not exactly rocket scientists, they tend to be below average intelligence, and also have a tendency to be more violent than non-believers. In some cases, the more violent the person, the more religious they are. I suspect that the vast majority of religious people are well below average intelligence.

I wonder if trying to improve the intellectual standard of our global community, would help remove the various religions from our culture, and thereby improve happiness and peace for humanity.

To each his own. There is no point in arguing and exchanging insults. I've found that very few people can be convinced of something they do not wish to be convinced of. That's okay, we are all responsible for ourselves. I don't understand the sport in antagonizing the other side. Not unlike what we see in Lebanon and Israel right now. Neither side is interested in change. Neither side wants to talk. It would be far better if everyone would just take their rockets and go home. Rather like Answers at times! Each side firing salvo after salvo of insults and offensive remarks to prove the love and existence of God, or His absence.
Let's get past this and move on to something we can all have an intelligent discussion about. What do you say?

I completely agree with you. I think the reason a lot of people get mad about it is because everyone always makes such a big deal about intolerance and how we should be tolerant to people and when someone insults us for our religion, we immediately get mad about intolerance. Of course, the minute we go back and bash them back we are guilty of the same wrong.

I too am a Christian and I'm hoping that we can eventually change all these negative stereotypes about Christians as being forceful and judgmental and just really harsh. This isn't the message of Jesus at all. Great question.

I believe it is normal for some people to insult those who think and believe different than them. That is just the way it is and has always been and there is not a whole lot you or I can do about it. I have done that (insult others) on occasion and felt bad about it afterwards, so that should be a lesson for me. I hope others who feel it is necessary to insult others feel the same way and recant and/or apologize after having done so, amen.

I agree. Religion is one of those subjects that really makes people get mad fast. And the insults fly. I, too, am a Christian and I wish everyone could have that faith...but if they don't, I certainly am not going to expend energy being unkind and rude. It just feeds the negativity they already associate with Christianity.

I respect that they have other opinions and beliefs and I wish that was returned.

Everyone?! ... I am Muslim and have read the most disgusting untrue stuff my religion is accused of yet, have never stooped to attack that persons religion in retaliation. My religion is my concern and your religion is your concern. That's what Islam teaches me. I will contribute if my religion is misrepresented though, that's my duty. I take it as an opportunity to educate even if the poster shows lack of respect and isn't looking for a sincere answer. I put in mind there are other lurkers that may benefit from a sincere answer.

I commend you for your position on this.

peace unto you

Yeah, I have thought the same thing. People just don't want to be wrong about something they put so much time in, plus for a lot of people, then their parents and their grandparents would have been wrong as well. It's like spitting on your culture. It's hard for anyone to take that. I'm agnostic, I don't care of you want to put your faith into some that can not be proven, works for some people, not for others.

Here is an old quote from someone, and it sounds like good words to me. "God made so many different kinds of people. Why would he allow only one way to serve him?"

I live my life each day for the Lord and I make it a practice never to insult others. It is not my place to do this. What I am to do is pray for them that they find the peace in their lives that only Jesus can give. I really believe most of the insults come from teens. This is to be expected from them. So just pray and be glad that you are a Christian.
