It would totally depend on the age of the dog, breed, what the actual condition is, and what treatments are being given.

There are conditions as well as genetic defects and things like poision that can cause these things. Without that info, we can only guess.
Chances are, with proper treatment, she can pull through.

Sorry about your dog. There are different causes of liver problems...toxins, infection, disease, tumors. If she has an infection there is a good chance she will respond to medicine. If it is disease, there are some medicines that can help repair/strengthen the liver. Tumors are not good, and there might not be anything other than surgery to try to help. Good luck!
I can't think of what human food could mess up her liver! At her age it is more likely a toxin or a liver shunt (abnormal blood supply to the liver).

my dogs still has messed up levels with her liver, and for her it is low levels of all of the above. They wanted to do steroids after they flushed her system. it didn't work. I ended up putting her on weight management diet (low fat) and she can't take many meds because her liver can't process it. For the last 7 years she has had basically no function but is happy and has a great life.

Our dog had liver problems when she was 12. We tried for 2 months to save her life before she ultimately succumbed to it. I'm sorry.

http://www.lbah.com/liver.htm has some good information on liver disease in dogs.

I blogged her treatment here, if you want to look at her lab numbers and see if it has any resemblance:

Without knowing what caused this, even a vet couldn't answer that without her medical history and test results.

My heart is with you, though, and I'll say some prayers for both of you. Send good thoughts and energy to her.
