What's the best "accidental bargain" you ever got? I DON'T mean stealing!! Like, you go to the grocery store and they mistakenly under-charge you (for example, a five-pound roast that should be $20, but it rings up as 20 cents).
I once bought a nice steak to grill for dinner (I got other items at the same time). The steak was supposed to be $7.70, but when I arrived home I realized (on the receipt) that it rang up as 77 cents!
I did think about going back to the market, but (of course) I didn't. And I grilled and ate the steak with very little guilt!

in checking out at the grocery store, i had two lobster tails in the bottom of a freezer bag ($18 each) there was fish on top of it and i just told the girl that there were 5 fish bags all together... she didn't take the fish out of the bag and i got the lobster for free... it was delicious!

I once got a shirt for the holidays and a "gift receipt" with it. The sleeves were half an inch short, so I went to the store for an exchange of the right size. I estimated the shirt cost around $15-20. First, there was no identical shirt to exchange, so I asked for a store credit. The person could not scan the bar-code for some reason. She asked her supervisor to do the needful and he went through some motions and handed me a store credit for about $80. Right at that time, there was a section where shirts were going for as little as $10. Now THAT was an accidental bargain- I still have some new shirts left over in my closet.

It's still theft. I always call attention to things like that and I have never had a merchant ask me to come up with the difference and then my conscience is clear.
If the situation were reversed, I'm certain you'd be screaming from the mountain tops about it. So you're not only a theif, but a hypocrite.

Whenever I've discovered such a mistake on returning home, I've posted a cheque to the establishment. Such matters are then dealt with by the management; the hired help usually does not have access to the procedures for rectifying these mistakes.
