if your tv has gone red, you most certainly own a crt, and the tube is beginning to go, a tube can be replaced, for usually around 120 pounds, but usually when the tube's have been replaced other things like resistor's and such like start going wrong. also if the tv isnt under a service warranty the tv will only be warrantied on the part replaced so wont be covered for other faults. maybe its time to start looking at a replacement tv, it depends upon your budget i suppose.

Since i don't know what kind of TV you have I'm assuming it's got a picture tube and it's less than 40". If you put the menu on the screen and you can read it, but there is no other colors but red then I would expect you have a bad tube and if it's not under warranty then replacement costs will be very high. But if there is red and a little blue then you have lost the green and that may be a connection or an inexpensive part, well worth a repair man to look at. Finally if you have no images on the screen but a bright red screen and skinny white lines slightly sloping down to the left, then you picture tube is shorted, and again replace it.

You probably need a new picture tube. They are very costly. If you don't have a maintenance agreement, it might be better to get a new TV, as a new tube may cost more than a new TV.

For the price tv's are today, go and purchase a new one. They have Citizen 20" at WalMart right now for $99. Not the greatest, but they work good.

if this TV is a projection, you most likely need the fluid changed in the green and blue tubes.
