There are good churches out there, just keep looking.
And, don't expect perfection.
Ages ago when I was Christian I use to say.
About a month ago I found a perfect church. I mean it was perfect. So I joined it. Now it's all screwed up. (meaning that I was imperfect so my joining it ruined the perfect church.)
I've also found that it is best to stay out of leadership. There is no better way to get sucked into the dysfunction of a church then to get involved in church politics.

I find this question the most amusing of them all. Partly because I hear this asked in some form or another constantly.
Hypocrites and liars are everywhere. They are in grocery stores, clothing stores, public restrooms, gas stations, etc. Yet we do not choose to avoid these areas, or simply refuse to shop at these outlets. Everyone in the world either is at this time or has been at some point a hypocrite or liar about something. People are imperfect. Being a Christian does not mean a person no longer sins, it means the blood of Jesus has covered their sins and provided them with the opportunity to go to heaven.
Unfortunately, churches are not perfect, because fallible people are involved with them. The best thing for you to do, is realize that we are all in the same boat. We have all sinned, and do still sin. Stop judging your brothers and sisters in Christ. Find a good church, where you know the true Gospel is taught, then get involved. There is no such thing as a church where there are no hypocrites or liars, because everyone has been one or is one right now. If we were capable of living perfectly sinless lives, there would have been no need for the blood of Jesus.

Its gonna be difficult.
Besides you need to ask yourself, why do you want to join a church?
The important issue of join a church is because u want to learn about God, about Jesus and know how to become a better person and a good member of a society.
You dont go or join a church to make friends, is not a social club... maybe those are the hyprocrites, the one that see a church like a social club, to make friends and have certain status.... thats not the point!!!
Having a faith or religion is not only to take and take, but is to take and to give, is a commitment. Are u willing to do that?

You should look for a church that correctly preaches the word of God and touches your heart and convicts your daily life. You should not worry about the others in the building. that is between them and the Lord. Also, there is no such thing as "perfect Christians" The Bible teaches us that you are to strive hard to be "like the Lord", To be patient, Kind, Loving, Etc...but you will never be perfect like Him. And he knows this. So my advice would be to pray within your heart for the Lord to lead you to the right church. Visit some in your area. If you don't get your feelings hurt by what the pastor is saying, then find another Try to avoid churches that don't want to HURT SOMEONES FEELINGS or STEP ON THERE TOES. I think we should all be reminded of our sins and get really convicted to change.

It's more important to find God. Start With A Good News Bible to read to your children (easy to understand) Get a King James Study Bible for yourself. Have weekly readings with your kids ( pray with your kids ) before each reading. Remember the lord at every meal. Visit churches, Join none until you are really comfortable and the church is a Bible believing church not contrary to what you find in the Bible.
There are some good radio ministries. Family Radio for one. Look it up in your area.
May the Lord bless you on your quest.

My Pastor says, "If you ever find the perfect church, you better not go there or you will only spoil it".
Humans are imperfect, therefore churches are imperfect. Where else are you going to find hypocrites?
The important thing is to find a church that worships (and praises) God according to scripture, and that teaches the truth about salvation.
Jesus only gave 2 requirements for salvation - repent (Luke 13:3,5) and be born again, of water and Spirit (John 3:3-5).
Jesus gave Peter the keys to the kingdom of heaven (Matt.16:19) and prayed for those who would believe on Him through the words of the apostles (John 17:20).
Peter, like Jesus, only gave 2 requirements for salvation (the same 2 as Jesus) - repent, be baptized (in the name of Jesus Christ) and be filled with the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:37-39)

You are looking at it the wrong way....if someone is perfect ( not a "hypocrite or liar"( what need have they for Christ? Or any religion for that matter.
Christ Himself said," The healthy have no need for a physician." He came to help us be better people.
If you are looking for a church where everyone is perfect, you ain't gonna find it, honey!
Or- if you are so perfect that you can't stand to be around the imperfect, maybe you should start your own Church!
Otherwise, join the rest of us who, like St Paul are "anxiously working out our salvation." You can find us in any Christian church.

Ideas and the implementation of those ideas are different. People are on the other end of practicing those ideas. Don't throw the good book out because Bill Clinton goes to Church and likes a quickie under the desk now and then. We are all sinners. Since we can acknowledge this is bad, You might consider moving parishes, sinagogs, mosques, Budda Joints, caves, stone circles, etc. until you find one where the people want to raise kids and do the right things, since this is your focus. (sorry for the humor) I know for a fact that in the city, religious organizations lose touch with the population. It could be that the big city isn't much of a place to raise children, but to hide problems in. I donno.

Look for a church that is structured according to the bible. There should be elders who lead the flock and ministers who have various responsibilities. They all should be more interested in serving than in being served. With the proper example set by the leadership, it is more likely that others will live Godly lives as well. Even then, please remember, it is great when liars and hypocrites come to our church. They are exactly the ones who need to be there. Also many of the people who serve in various roles may be new to those roles. We try our best, but we are as far from perfect as any others. Please be patient with us. If you care to email me with what city you are in, I will try to find a few places that you may want to check out.

Maybe you don't want to spend an hour a week or so with hypocrites; would you rather spend eternity with them?
The church isn't a country club for the perfect; it's a recovery group for sinners.
Look for a church that teaches the Bible, and uses the Bible for its authority. Check out the site below, and ask any questions you want.
