Hate to rain on anyone's parade, but there are still too many problems with Vista. It's in Beta 2 and some gurus in PCWorld, etc. are saying it might even go in Beta 3 testing.

Wait until it's been released to the general public before messing with it. And where did you get the CD-ROM? From somebody who tried to copy it from some unknown freeware site? That might be the problem right there.

Windows Vista? FLoppy?

Sounds like you are trying to run Beta testing on old hardware. Check the requirements of Vista against your system. I bet it is years out of date.

It's a floppy disk in your floppy drive.

Also, it occurs to me that setting the boot sequence to boot from the CD is ok, except that the CD drive isn't readable yet until the CD driver is installed. I don't think the computer can see the CD drive yet.

Make sure the DVD is burned correctly if it doesn't boot thats the only reason why it wouldn't you can always mount the image file in 3rd party DVD emulation software such as Daemon Toolz and go through the installation starting out in your current OS. Clean the DVD first, Make sure its burned correctly 2nd, 3rd try 3rd party tools such as Daemon Toolz to get it installed

Yeah, you have a bad install CD. Don't worry though, it didn't kill your hard drive. Make the install CD again, but this time, make sure it is bootable.
