you will need to decide what branch you want then go see a recruiter. let them know you're interested in the medical feild and would like to pursue something there...DO NOT let them make you believe that just because you entered the office means you have to sign, you do not. and if you get serious about it DO NOT let them talk you into a career you will not be happy with. My husband held out when he joined the Air Force and it payed off. he waited 3 months before he left because he held his ground on the field he wanted, but as soon as a spot opened up he was gone in 2 weeks. I would also recomend speaking to each branch recruiter to find out which will give you the best offer. Play them against eachother, why not they would do it to you. I wish you all the luck if you go through with this and don't think that you can do this just for the shcooling you will have to give them some time...which can range anywhere between 4&8 years depending on the branch and career

The Montgomery GI bill will provide some money, in addition to sign on bonuses. The sign on bonuses are split in half once after AIT, the rest at some other time (not sure of the timing on second half, never got a sign on bonus). If you decide to enlist make it very clear to your liason officer at your enlistment station what you want. If they don't (or say they "can't") get what you want walk away, don't settle for anything less; PERIOD. There are alot of loop holes liasons can use, and believe me they will. Do your research, go to Military.com and check out some of the information they have. Go to the particular branch your interested in, most will have the specifics on certain jobs. And finally, DON'T let them tell you the only option for what you want is infantry, they are lying their arses off.

Complete you bachelor's degree first. Contact an Army (or Navy) recruiter about the "Green to Gold" program for becoming a medical officer. If you qualify, it may be the best decision of your life!

You have to obligate for six years active duty and two years in the reserves (Yes, you must sign a contract). Not a bad deal when you consider that you won't be starting your medical career $100000 in debt.

You'd have to promise them something like 8 years of active duty time to get them to cover your medical school. Possibly more if you want them to cover undergrad school and med school.

i'd think you'd have to sign up for a minimum 4 years and then you will get your gi bill and aid for school.. Navy , Airforce, and the army have doctors, I know that in california even though my grandfather was air force he had to go to the naval hospital to get heart surgery..
