Working4jc1,
My understanding of this, based on a careful study of scripture, is this. We are all born as POTENTIAL children of God. We all have the right, and the opportunity to take God, to be our Father. He doesn't take away our free will in this matter. We all know, that not all of those who call Him Lord, will enter the Kingdom of God, but those who do the will of the Father. I also think it is pretty clear, that if you have not received His Spirit into your heart, you are not His child. You are the child, of the One whose works you do. If then, you bear the fruits of the Spirit, Love of God, and love of mankind, then He is indeed your Father.

Supposedly there is a god that is the source of everything so I guess that makes every living thing his children, so to speak. I can see how some people see it that way but then that would make him our father (or mother or both?). In actuality, when we bring people into the world we are co-creating so that makes our offspring part-children of the master creator and that makes him their part-father/mother. As far as what the bible says, some of us don't care because it doesn't make a lot of sense (vomit you out of my mouth. Huh???).

We are all *creations* of God but you have to become a child of God by adoption into His household. The "all God's children" idea gained currency in the 19th century along with angels in nightgowns, who as C. S. Lewis says, don't look like they're going to say "fear not" so much as "there, there." Universalism says we'll all be all right in the end, because it makes people more comfortable to think that. But it doesn't square very well with the Gospel.

Because people are stupid, ignorant, religious fools who have never read a book in their lives besides the bible. They rely on "God" to lead them through life, and whenever they make arguments or when they debate, they mention the bible, and "God", but the "facts" they provide are fiction because there is NO proof of "God".

They use "child of God" as a metaphor. God made us, so "Child of God".
Hot or cold He is talking about is saying " I wish you would either belive in Me
or not believe in Me." It's a matter of honesty. Kind of " If you aren't really going to love Me/ live for me, Then why say you are a Christian? why say you believe? You will only humiliate yourself and shame Me."

Jesus told the Pharisee they were 'children of the devil" because they refused to believe He was the Messiah.
We have a choice which family we can be a part of.
