I mean, be honest, no matter how great it is, after a trillion years, don't you think it would get a little old? To say nothing of "eternity." Maybe I just lack enough imagination, but I can't think of anything that would sustain me for eternity. Can you?

Being eternal (I'm a Reincarnationist) doesn't mean you have to think and feel every second. You can "sleep". You can rest.

I completely disagree. When God created Adam and Eve, they were perfect, and before they sinned, had the option of living forever to turn the earth into the paradise God wanted it to be, and to fill it with righteous offspring. Do you really think God would have given them all that and then at a certain point, they'd have said "man, this is getting old. I'm sooooo bored"? Not a chance. There is so much to learn about and do, even now, that it would take many lifetimes to come close to doing it all. That's the kind of thing I look forward to if I personally survive the end of this current world system.

I guess that would depend on what it is that is eternal. I would think that when you die, your memories, etc would be gone, since you don't have a brain anymore that would store these things. But then, no one really knows what happens after we die.

But something does come to mind when people talk about the spirit not being eternal. It's usually those who claim that energy is eternal... So what exactly is it about us that would be eternal?

I agree in a sense. I don't think it's meant to be understood. It's going to be so good, there is just no way for God to tell us all about it in the Bible. He told us many great things about His kingdom, but I like you wondered the same thing. Honestly, I think eternity with Him will be more then we could understand right now. One thing is we'll have glorified bodies. I have no idea what that will be like, but sounds wonderful!

Oh, one thing I noticed you said the word old. The thing about God is He is ALWAYS new. That's hard to understand in itself, let alone eternity.

No I think eternal life is the best thing that ever happened!

It is wonderful to know you can spend eternity with Almighty loving God!

You may not think so....I wouldn't either if I knew I was on my way to hell for all eternity; but to those of us who know Jesus Christ we have the assurance of eternal life and we rejoice in it!

If you enjoy all of the strife on this earth I guess you could say it would be boring. But for me I think eternity with the Lord would be tremendous.

the concept of eternal life is only believed by insane people

Maybe if I were not born from above.

BUT,

it does not strike me in the least as insane.

For the Bible tells us that whatever is foolishness to man is not that with God.

He has also chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.

Two words -- Suicide Booth.

Of course, for me, it's just a quick "erase disk" command.

So what day do you want to eat your last meal?

1Corinthians 2:9 But just as it is written: "Eye has not seen and ear has not heard, neither have there been conceived in the heart of man the things that God has prepared for those who love him."

Exactly, one reason I like buddhism. One of the ways the Buddha reasoned that we have no permanent self, soul, or spirit is because it would really suck to live forever. Enlightenment is being released from samsara (the circle of life and death).
