A bite now and then won't hurt but could cause diarrhea. Cat food is too high in protein and doesn't have the correct balance of nutrients that a dog needs. So no, it is not OK to feed as a regular diet. FYI, cats absolutely cannot live on dog food without becoming very ill.

I remember reading somewhere in the past the cat food is not good for dogs, especially a steady diet of it. It consists of different nutrients and ingredient which are not digested as well for dogs. They love the taste of cat food because since cats are such finicky eaters, the taste is designed especially for cats. I suggest a regular diet of just dog food. Dry is the best, but if its a small dog you can mix it with the canned dog food. I hope I helped!

No it's not, dogs like cat food more because it has a strong scent, but the cat food is specialized for cats. So I would pick a dog food, with a very strong scent!

My vet says absolutely no cat food for dogs; due to high salt and fat content, this can cause heart and obesity problems in your dog. But, he told me that it was fine for my cat to eat dog food; when my dog is eating the cat always nibbles on dog food.

Check again, you may have bought a cat disguising a dog ! If its really a dog, keep this secret to yourself, if cats discover that they will start messing up with dogs food.

Btw, its normal & okay to feed both need the same vitamins & nutrients to get energy. My dog once ate fish food, its expensive otherwise I may have regularly feeded him with that.

Not if you want your dogs to live long. Dogs and cats have very different nutritional needs. Those needs are not being met by cat food.

Unfortunately for you, dogs and cats are two different species with different dietary needs. Canned and packaged pet foods are nutritionally balanced towards the pets they are intended. While neither a car or dog will die from eating the other's food, they have different protein, fat, carbohydrate, caloric and vitamin needs. You're going to have to buy separate foods to keep your pets nutritionally sound.

No, Cat food is specially made for cats. I don't think it would hurt her/him if she/he did it it, but i think that you should tell him/her "No!" So your dog doesn't try to eat it. My dog tried to eat my cats food a lot. But after we did this, She stopped.
