He did the same thing at our old house...and in the same room. He doesn't go anywhere else and we have tried everything. Now we have a cat door into our garage and the liter box is in there...I have two other cats (brother and sister 2 years older than him). All 3 of the cats use the same box and do not have a problem with the new cat door. Our peeing cat will poop and pee right in front of us, while we sleep, whenever he feels like it. I have put him outside a few times, but it has no effect. He didn't do any of this for over a month..and has just started doing it again. We tried everything at our old place to stop him, new carpet, cleaning, sealing, and putting in new baseboards, and it worked for about a month, upon which he started all over again. We scoop our liter box every other day, it is fresh liter is put in completely every few weeks. Also, any tips on what is the best enzyme cleaner.I just want him to stop.He is 11 years old and my husband is threatening to get rid of him

Older cats start that sometimes. He could not like the smell of the other cats pee and poop and not want to share the box.I would definitely change the liter more often! I have one cat and I change hers once a week and sometimes that is too long and she will poop beside it! One day she pooped beside it and then peed in it!? Go figure! You might try putting him in the garage or another room away from you and the other cats when he does this. Tell him no in a firm voice and put his face close to it and tell him bad cat and then remove him from the room and family. Cats don't like to be separated from what is going on and will catch on soon that it is his behavior that is keeping him away from his cat and human family.I would probably put him in the garage only for several days without letting him in the house and clean the den very well. When you let him out tell him and show him the box and say good kitty. then in the den you tell him bad cat and say no! Put him out every time and it should work unless there is a medical reason for his behavior. There is something about the smell of their own urine being offensive when ill also.Best wishes. I hope you get to have a better relationship soon since he may not be with you much longer. Sorry.

He may have bladder problems being 11. Try putting a liter box in a room where he can manage a little faster. Having 3 cats using the same box is too much.

The cleaning I'm not sure about other then the stuff that's advertised on TV. That Urine Gone with the black light. If you are in the US they have it at Walmart & Target for $15.

Cats don't do that unless there is something dreadfully wrong: mental or physical. (As it happens, we have lost 3 cats in the past year; 2 from old age and one less than a year old with a fatal disease. The toilet habits of one or two of them changed for the weird and offensive as they approached the end of their lives.)

I'd say take the cat to the vet. I don't see enough real medical info in your question to offer anything professional or even do any research. We spent a lot of time on the Web visiting cat illness pages over the past couple of years.

You can get various repellants, including a high-pitched noisemaker that worked for one but not the other of our cats when they started doing things near the front door. There is no guarantee that any one thing will work for all.

First off you have to eliminate any odors in the places where he's going or he'll keep going in those places. Pet stores have products for that. Next there's some problem with the litter box. Try using a different brand and try changing the depth of the litter. If you can catch him in the act and let him know it's wrong that will help , too. ...Good Luck!!

Try buying another litter box. Some cats just dont like sharing litter trays. I think one box for three cars is definatly not enough anyway

try some pepper cayene or vineagar on a rag . We once had a cat that did this and it seemed he didnot mind making a smell but he like a clean area . if you put this on a rag you can move it from place to place it is worth a try good luck

being 11 years old he may have a urinary problem. if he eats a lot of food with fish in it in males it crystalizes in their bladder and causes an infection, or he is just very set in his ways, ya know thinks he's better than the others.

find a bleaching cleaner. chances are, there was another cat or dog there before and he's putting his mark over it. the way he thinks of it, it's his house now!
