What would these Reparations be about...The US and the world in general abolished slavery 200 years ago, you are going to tell me that the US owes the African American community of Today, for something that happened 200 years ago? That would be like the Italians owe the rest of Europe reparations today for the rule of the roman empire centuries ago. That all aside the African American community as a general rule has been given more than its fair share for at least the past 50 years. Next you will be telling me that the illegal immigrants deserve reparations from the citizens of the US, because we don't treat them like citizens (which they aren't). Get over it already, and move on with your life. Instead of asking for a hand out, see what you can do to make the US a better place to live.

which balck people? The ones whose families immigrated to the US 100 years ago. What reparations are they entitled to.
Reparations from whom? From 'White' people whose families landed in the US 100 or so years ago?
Neither group were either slaves nor slave owners.
What about a 'black person' whose family includes both former slaves and slave owners? Do they pay themselves reparations. Do the Irish immigrants of the 1890's get money or pay money? They are white but faced serious discrimination for decades?
Maybe we are all responsible today for what we make of our futures rather than trying to correct histories injustices?

A lot of people (including the United Auto Workers and other big unions, who took care of their carded members and fought against letting anyone else in) treated black people like dirt until about ten years after the end of second world war, when things started getting gradually better. I don't believe that more than a very small number of black people think that they will ever get "reparations", but they would like to be respected as equals. Many of them are proving themselves equal to anyone.

Jim , why do Black Americans think that the working people of America should have to pay Blacks of today simply because they are Black. Making working people pay for atrocities against races does nothing but divide. History has singled out many races for persecution. But making people of today pay some reparation for past crimes serves no good purpose.

My ancestors were given more than a county's worth of land in upstate New York, which they lost for being Tories and supporting the British. I'm not waiting for reparations & either should you.

When the Native Americans also have their negotiated contracts and treaties with the US Government fulfilled.
Neverwary 32, 0002.33 1/3.
Our government only expects fulfillment of the parts of treaties and contracts that benefit it.
I'm curious, Which African American by name have you heard asking for reparations?
Also do all of the stupid ideas that every white person utters in the media represent the views of ALL Whites?

It's too late. Only the ones that were slaves deserve the reparations.

Repar-who? Even if there was such a thing, I'd rather not put myself in that position. There's enough black hatred as it is. Oh, sure, let's give America one more reason to hate Blacks. No spank you!

My people were enslaved, then taxed, by an oppressive invading government.
I am still waiting for an apology and reparations... from Rome. It's been 2000 years. Do you suppose I'll ever get them?
