In my church nobody is forced to give money and any amount is accepted. People have been accustomed to give offerings because we feel it's good for God and to keep the Church standing.

If you have 99 cents in your pocket you give 99 cents, if you have only 5 bucks you give 5 bucks, same with 10,20 etc. If you are wealthy and it doesn't hurt to give more, you give more.

I don't deny that there are a couple of churches that are corrupt, and they investigate where do you work, your earnings and you give a percent every week depending on how much you earn. Those churches are definitely getting into your private life and stealing your money.

If you are in a church like that I suggest you to change to another Church. Remember that the devil can be anywhere, even in false prophets and people who want to use you for their convenience.

I just wanted to clarify that, not all Churches are there for your money.

It's obvious that if you belong to a church that has a huge congregation, a lot of money is going to be collected.

And how do you want the minister to look like, like a hobo?

I also have the right to have a nice car, if I work for it.

Those churches are wrong seriously. I don't even give money, my mother does and I am an adult. I don't have a job yet and cant give my own money, and they aren't persecuting me.

I know when I was a kid I would give 50 cents, and it was humbly accepted.

God is humble. People are not. Everyone is all about appearance, doesn't matter if you have a religion or not. Fake people are everywhere, even fake Christians.

It takes money to run a church, a congregation, charities, etc.

It takes greed, ambition, and a lust for power to abuse the money the church has received.

Religion costs money, but beliefs are free.

The reason people will say a Church will steal money is because of Tithes. Different religions have different rules on Tithes, but basically, it's a 10% of your income, or a percentage of your income, that you are supposed to go directly to the church.

"It is thought that tithes were not adopted by the Catholic Christian church for over seven centuries. Although rejected, they were mentioned in councils at Tours in 567 and at Mâcon in 585. They were formally recognized under Pope Adrian I in 787. Tithing in Christian churches today is frequently preached from the pulpit, but denominations and sects view tithing differently. As tithing was only a requirement found in the Old Testament, some consider it to be a practice that has no place in modern Christianity. "

"Some organizations, such as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints expect active members to pay an honest or full tithe."

"In recent years, tithing has been taught in Christian circles as a form of "stewardship" that God requires of Christians. The primary argument is that God has never formally "abolished" the tithe, and thus Christians should pay the tithe (usually calculated at 10 percent of all gross income from all sources), usually to the local congregation (though some teach that a part of the tithe can go to other Christian ministries, so long as total giving is at least 10 percent). Some holding to prosperity theology doctrines go even further, teaching that God will bless those who tithe and curse those who do not.

Opponents argue that the only Biblical references to the tithe occurred (or referenced events that occurred) during the period of Mosaic Law, applicable only to Jews. They further argue that Jesus taught He came to "fulfill" the Law, which they believe occurred at His crucifixion, and therefore Christians are no longer obligated to pay a minimum amount, but should give only as God specifically directs them to do (which may be more or less than 10 percent)."

This shows that depending on your religion and church, the actual tithe can change. I know at my temple, we paid a certain amount to be a full fledged member, yet anyone was allowed to come in and pray at any time. Membership was approximately 550$ and at no time did our rabbi ever claim it was a religious reason. It was to keep the Temple alive and pay for the cost of keeping it clean, and owning the building.

I personally thank you for your input. My feelings started changing about the "collection plate" when i was working one night as a server "waitress"and a bunch of church people came in. I took the table, the bill came out to like 230 dollars and they paid the bill by 1 and 5 dollar bills. now what disturbed me the most was how some of them were complaining that if people donated a more money they could eat out more. Then i herd others saying how they take the money from the plate and how they need to find a way to get people to donate more so they can eat out ect ect

So as you can see why my feeling changed when they openly admitted that they used the money in the collectiion plate to eat out instead of taking care of the church.

If you are a Christian then you know it's just the enemy. He want's to distort the true Christ and usurp as many people into his way of thinking.

If you aren't a Christian, then back in the 80's, at least for me, the media was filled with propoganda to give money to that particular 'church.' Many used this money for there own pleasures or to build up a big building they called a church to make a name for themselves. It left a very sour taste in people's mouth they can't forget.

I think people who don't believe in God say this, but Christian people who knows why they go to the Church will never say it, they just give some money because they want to help poor people, and to make church better, as we all know God will remember it and he'll make your day better and he will help you. And it's always your choise do you want to give money or not.
So churches don't steal any money.

I agree 100%.

I've heard of churches, in California, that require offerings.
I wouldn't attend that church on a bet.

I've tithed, voluntarily, my entire life and never missed a dime of it.
