Like any city, it has it's good and bad neighborhoods, but the city's changed a lot in the last decade.

I had to go out to Newark for work for a 3 month stint last year. There is crime and some gangs around that area. Traffic is awful as well.... The good news is, not far away, is Edison, NJ. If you do some research you will see it is in the top 15 nicest places to live in the USA every year.

The airport is the best thing about Newark.

its not that bad...you just have to know where to go and where to avoid. Newark is famous for its Portuguese neighborhoods and amazing food...if your going to visit just be sure you know where you're going

I have to say when I visited it was fairly gross. A cross between Gary Indiana and Detroit. I probably will not ever go back.

A wasteland and the armpit of America. Abnormally high cancer rate too I believe.
