Please do not shave your dog unless it is a breed that is meant to be shaved. "Summer cuts" have a minimal effect on the comfort of your dog, and mostly just make the poor thing look stupid.
Most dogs usually blow their winter coats at the beginning of the summer, but with this heat wave we have been having, many dogs are starting to shed all over again. This is normal, and technically there is nothing you can do to stop it.
You can, however, minimize the amount of hair that ends up on your furniture. You can buy shampoos and food supplements that claim to minimize or eliminate shedding, but most of these products are questionable. Your best bet is to brush your dog everyday. There are special brushes you can get that are specifically designed to pull out loose hair. They are relatively inexpensive and you can get them at most pet supply stores.
Depending on how bad your dog is right now, it might be worth your time to take your dog to a groomer for a good bath and brushing out. That way, the groomer can remove the bulk of the loose hair, and you would just have to do a few minutes of "maintenance" each day.

Brush him a lot: It won't stop the shedding, but it will get the loose fur off of your dog. And take a look at higher-quality pet foods: Sometimes dogs shed because they're not getting enough nutrition. Also, keep in mind that there has been a lot of heat lately so your dog might simply be losing fur because he's too hot.
Good luck!

Depending on the breed of dog the shedding is most likely normal for that breed.
Dogs shed and that is a fact and you can not chage that,
If you can not live with the hair place the dog.

Well.. what kind of dog is it?
Most dogs shed. If its really shedding that much its probably missing something in it's diet. Try feeding your dog different food. They have special food just for dogs that shed too much.

Your dog is probably just shedding its winter coat. Thats likely. I would go to the vet though because your dog might also have a skin desease where they shed so much they get bald spots. Just get him checked out. I bet he'll be fine but just go to be on the safe side.

I do know for a fact that the shedding is caused by poor nutrition. I wouldnt suggest changing your dog food if you have had him/her on a good quality food for some time. First off- dont feed people food to a dog. It is not good for them (unless it is steak- or bones) Feed you dog only one or two milk bones a day. and give your dog a supplement (vitamin) If you feed the generic dog food that is the cheapest for financial reasons DONT! It isnt going to give your dog the nutrition it requires for a good healthy coat. Pedigree or Iams if you have to go to Walmart. But I suggest going to a feed store and spending a little more. Get your vet to suggest some vitamins- IT HELPS!! good luck with that.

shave the dog,... put it to sleep permanently,....
trade it in for another dog,....
Run the air conditioner 24/7,... its probably the heat that is the cause.
Take it to the vet, it might be fulla worms,... My mom's dog had that problem and it shed a hella lot before it was cured (it was an outdoor dog).
My cat sheds in the summer months, a lot - when I forget to leave the AC on for it.
good luck & give yur puppy a little luving, its not its fault.

It is normal for many dog breeds to shed in the summer time.
Take him to the groomers and have him/her shaven (short or completely). Your dog will feel more comfortable and you too will be happier!
