I don't know, I guess it's just too hard to read a damn book. It's so much easier to just be irresponsible and inconsiderate.
I work with dogs everyday, I read about them all the time, and I still don't feel like I'm ready to own one. It's a serious responsibility, and it takes a lot of time and money to raise a pet well. The main reason dogs end up in shelters is because people get them without realizing how much work they are. It's so sad, because thousands of dogs are put down all the time for no good reason.

You are so correct! I volunteer at the animal shelter and it is sad that people treat animals the way they do. Animals are family members. They have feelings and emotions just the way people do. When animals are left at the shelter they look for their owners everytime anyone comes in. After awhile they give up and get extremely depressed. When I lived in another state a woman gave her dog up because she redecorated her house and the dog didn't match! Talk about a moron! Some snow birds will adopt a pet for the winter and then give it up when they go back home for the summer. Some people are just not good enough for animals.

Yeah, if only they would educate themselves. I had a neighbor who had three animals. One was a great pyrenees. He was very beautiful. You could not only count his ribs through his thick coat but you could see his hip bones prominintly. They moved and just left them there. Not even releasing them...another was a rotweiler, he was the same. Prissy the puppy was very much the same. However, she was given to us. My hubby and I would continue to feed them. But, we called the shelter. We already had two dogs and prissy made it our third. We took prissy to a vet and she had tapeworms which are very treatable. The shelter could not do anything until they proved they moved. I took pictures even to show them. It's very sad that people cannot educate themselves. They would rather leave a dog to starve. All three were the most loving dogs and all except the great white pyrenees I'm sorry to say got a loving home. It would be wonderful to see people have a new understanding of what the responsibilities of having any animal are. You would not leave your children like that if you care about your children. If you care about your animals why would you do that to your animals?

Yes I would love to vent
People are irresponsible and they think that nothing is ever their fault. Even if it is they are not going to say they were wrong.
They see a dog and think it is beautiful or cool or what ever and get one. They have no clue about how to take care of it or how much training or exercise it needs or what that breed is even supposed to do.
If people would research the breed they liked before buying one my job would be easier and our rescue would not be so full.

That's just crazy talk... Next you'll be suggesting that people be mature and educated, as well as financially and mentally prepared, before they start popping out kids...

They are almost as bad as the people who come on and ask: "My arm has just dropped off, I have green goo oozing out of my nose and my nipples have just exploded. Should I worry or is it normal?"
